Are you a Speedmaster or a Seamaster person?

I’m not flying anything...not even a cargo plane [full of rubber dog shit] out of Hong Kong. I lost my FAA medical about 2 years ago when I failed B737 transition training at Delta Air Lines following being displaced off the retiring MD88/MD90. Following my B737 training fiasco, I was diagnosed with adjustment disorder [as well as sleep apnea] and I’m currently on long term medical disability at Delta while receiving treatment for my ailments. I’ve been trying to get my FAA medical back...but it was denied about two weeks ago by the FAA since they want more data...so I’ll give them more data and see what happens.
Remember:

Only when the weight of the paperwork exceeds the weight of the aircraft will you be permitted to fly it.

They invented wheelbarrows to teach FAA inspectors to walk on their hind legs.

And the ever-favorite, infinitely applicable: "We're from the FAA and we're here to help. We're not happy unless you're not happy."

My best wishes for you getting your medical back in 2020. Let's get Mad Dog unchained from the rotating beacon!

Get those back on their bracelets.
Funny you should say that. After accumulating a drawerful of various nice Horween leather straps and NATOs, the Omegas have both been “back on their bracelets” for the past few weeks.

I have never even tried on a Speedmaster....true story! For some reason I’ve never been a big chronograph fan so, for me, it’s Seamaster all the way!

Wait a second... does your orange PO have a nick on the bezel in the exact same place mine does? Here’s yours, c/p’d from your earlier post:

... and here’s mine:

I thought you had lifted my photo! Weird coincidence...

No photo lifting!😀 Just very similar nicks in the same place. I can see why you might think that on initial glance though. 👍

Not yet got a speed master but def on the cards. At some point in the future.

Currently it would be seamaster - f300, pre-bond, cosmic 2000 and a Jacques Mayol

I've been a Seamaster wearer for the past five years. By this time tomorrow, however, I'll be both 🍿

Seamaster fan but I am thinking of adding a Moonwatch.

I love my 2531 Seamaster with tritium plots, but the blue on the new seamaster is gorgeous.

Well, as there is such variety among particularly seamasters (120, 300, 300m, PP, 1000, SMdV, PO, AT, ...) I find it hard to (not) consider myself a Seamaster person. Compared to this, the Speedmaster aesthetic is much more consistent across the various models, which I all tend to like. As for the true divers, I tend to gravitate to other brands than Omega. Somehow the modern Omega divers (`300m and onwards) don't do it for me, aesthetically at least. The Helium escape crown on the 300m is a little awkward, I find. On the other hand: I really admire the engineering behind the co-axial movement in modern Seamasters.

So summing up this rambling reply: maybe I'm more of a Speedmaster guy, but I find it hard to dislike Seamasters

Agreed. The spectrum of seamaster variants is wide (ie, not all are divers). Whereas all speedmasters are chronographs. There are even seamaster chronographs. And i think the seamaster even started as a water resistant dress watch.

So really hard to compare.

Though the iconic seamaster for me is the James Bond seamaster professional. Being a professional variant, that is certainly comparable to the speedmaster professional.

The speedy gets the slight edge for me.

That’s my big fear. Loosing my medical. I dealt with them a couple times in the past and Okie City is beyond reasonable

I started with Seamasters many moons ago, and then got a Speedmaster. Now I'm a Speedy guy and my Seamasters sit in their boxes in my closet.

I actually got the Rolex bug before the Speedmaster bug. I bought a DSSD, wore it twice, and decided it wasn't for me. I learned the lesson of not buying something based on specs and online pictures. Put the Deep Sea Sea Dweller away for a couple years and moved on. Got a sweet deal on a Speedmaster Co-Axial with bezel damage, which Omega repaired under warranty. About the same time I swapped the DSSD for a Rolex GMT Master II BLRO, the 16710 model. Two watch rotation for me, with an occasional Casio G-Shock thrown in.

Little of each. The PO gets more wrist time as it's worn outside of the office more often.

I'm both! 😁
Speedy is my daily wearer now. SMP is only worn on holidays at the beach these days.
