Are two tone watches ugly?

I don't like the gold-stainless combo, but otherwise I like two-tone dials. In fact, I've been looking for a tuxedo dial similar to this. I passed on this one over a few bucks and have regretted it ever since 馃う

If it's SS and YG, then yes for me...

I鈥檓 not a fan. They seem to trade at a discount even though you鈥檇 think the inclusion of gold would increase manufacturing cost.

There's a few exceptions, but most of them look like this to me

I think *most* 2 tone watches are ugly - key word being most. I find the addition of the gold to lack class on most of them - it's like they just plaster it on there. There are also only a few colors that the contrast goes well with - the key ones being black and surprisingly white. A 2 tone white dial is very elegant. You can look no further then the Speedmaster co-axial 1957 issue to see how it can be done right.

I am saving my pennies for this beauty - definitely on my shortlist of two tone wonders - yellow gold and steel!

Gold hardware on the dial and stainless case I have grown attracted to over the last couple years, even the gold capped Omegas that have the lower case stainless and upper gold are kind of groovy- but two-tone ala Rolex- pass.

What do you think about Omega鈥檚 Sedna gold?

The answer is no.

I didn't think I cared for them until I tried on one of these. It changed my opinion, both of Rolex and two-tones.

Don't be afraid to change your mind.

I don't think you can make a blanket statement as it varies from watch to watch. Two tone can be reflected in the metal...yellow gold and stainless steel for example, or in the dial. I generally don't like two tone watches, but, there are many that I find quite attractive. Below are some vintage examples that I find to be exquisite, two use two different types of precious metals and one has a two tone dial.

I hate two-tone steel and yellow gold when its done as an economy measure which it often is. In some watches it works for me, the Omega Seamaster Ti-Tan-RAu would be an example of a well executed two-tone (or tri-tone) watch to me. Some watches where gold alternates with ceramic work for me too.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I鈥檓 generally not a fan of two tone watches but I wouldn鈥檛 completely rule them out either. There are some that are tastefully done.

This was my first Omega purchase...when I saw it in person, it looked so much better than the normal SS ones. I do honestly prefer a red/rose gold vs. yellow gold. Not to be redundant, but another photo...mine on a Grey NATO.

For things other than Ss and YG, it depends...

I purposely looked for a gold and steel two tone dress watch, and ended up with a Raymond Weil which my son claimed, and an Eterna.
I wouldn't fancy a two tone dive watch though.
