Are these desirable, 18Kt/steel , 331.20.42.51.02.001 and 331.20.42.51.01.002 ? They are the same price as the steel Speedmasters.

With which SS Speedmasters are you comparing and what price are you seeing?

Those are older Speedmaster '57 models, not comparable to the latest 3861 models.

They’re well under msrp now, now super popular but good value on the used market for sure. Nothing wrong with them but they just play second fiddle to the Moonwatch in general

I kinda like the '57s , but not a fan of gold or two-tone. I'm here for the mechanicals, not jewelry.

Niche market. Generally, two-tone pieces trade at a discount to the retail price.

Does the 18Kt/steel offer good values compared to moonwatch. Moonwatch list is $8000, the 18Kt/steel list originally for $15,000 but now sells for $7,500. Not sure what to get. I thought the two tone 331.20.42.51.01.002 even on a rubber band would look nice. With the leather or rubber band looks like the $20K Omegas. Any thoughts ?

Value is a nebulous term. Yes, you can get a steel and 18kt watch for a similar price as an all steel 3861, but it's a different watch with different movement, case and bracelet. How do you define value?

S&G is desirable if you like it. S&G is getting more love now but won't be as popular as all steel or even all gold.

I was a typical S&G hater myself but changed after the first time I tried on a "Clint Eastwood" rootbeer GMT. I later tried on a Santos S&G and was soon one of those people saying, "I don't know, I kindof like S&G." But prepare to be in the minority. There's definitely a balance and some look great and some don't. The one you picked looks pretty good. But it depends on how it looks on your wrist because you never know until then.

As far as value, current discounted cost vs msrp is a terrible gauge.

The best cost per watch build speedmaster is probably an 1861 pre-owned steel moonwatch at around 4k or even less. But that's also not a great reason to choose a watch.

For what it's worth, to me, this is a beautiful watch. I imagine people at a GTG would enjoy seeing. It looks classy and not overwrought.

If you buy the best deal you won't love the watch. If you buy the watch you love, you won't care about the deal.

Buy what you like more.

I personally find these kinda ugly/boring. I'd only accept straight lugs on actual vintage watches or better representations of vintage moonwatches (ed white, 321 canopus, FOIS).

Steel moonwatch is more "classic" and probably easier to sell later if you think you might do that.

Is the TT watch "desirable" compared to the Moonwatch?
Obviously it is not desirable compared to the Moonwatch. It is a niche watch with a small following, but if you like it more than a Moonwatch, you should buy it and enjoy it.

Is it a good value compared to the Moonwatch?
What are you really asking? It's a perfectly fine watch. If you're asking about resale, I wouldn't count on it holding it's value.
