Are the letters on this dial original?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought this (166.002) from a Japanese seller on Ebay, and i want everyone's opinion on the dial if its repainted or anything, because the letters look slightly thicker, can this be caused by age and humid climate?

Thanks,

I would say this is a complete redial.

The writing is very thick and inconsistent. Also no serif.
Here is an original dial for comparison:
Even if you look at the small minute markers on the 2nd picture you uploaded. They are spaced unevenly at 12 or 9 o’clock for instance (one is closer to the big cardinal marker).

These are a favorite of mine. Judging by my examples this one appears to be 100% reprint due to thick lettering.

Could this significantly affect the value of the watch?

Yes, it would.
Well, i guess I'm contacting the seller for a possible refund as he still didn't ship it yet.

If they dont want to refund you should simply put it back on ebay when you receive it and hope you get the full amount back this way, hope it doesnt end up being an expensive lesson but it is what it is

I contacted the seller and according to him the shipment is already on it's way and i should wait for it to arrive before issuing a return, because he thinks i might change my mind.
Also it was 799USD for the watch which i thought was a nice price that was slightly less than the average price its going for online, but i guess the reason why it was cheaper is the redial (which he didn't disclose) because i would think he knew because his store mostly deals with vintage Omega watches. but lesson learned i guess.

If you are from USA you are paying the tarrifs and so, i dont think you will get that back when returning the watch, i suppose its easier to resell domestically and simply state the dial has been refinished (some buyers dont mind)
