    Hi OF,

Was contemplating getting archive extracts for my 74 speedy and 64 SM300. Is it worthwhile? I'm assuming the main value is in case I ever decide to sell?

I'd say it'll add more value to your SM300 given that these watches have movements from other omegas swapped into them all the time.

How comfortable are you in the provenance of your -74 speedy. The 861's don't get swapped around like the SM300's. So I'd say if it falls in range and you didn't buy it from a seedy dealer then no real point in getting one.

Not sure extracts add value to 861 Speedy's.

Can we see pictures of these watches at least? :D

Unless you want to know the date it was put together.

Right, but honestly, the ilovemyspeedmaster tool gets better every time someone adds an extract. It also gives you where it was delivered. I just assumed OP knew of these details and more directly addressed his question vis-a-vis value.

Similar thing happened to me. Ordered it about three months ago, got a message it was being shipped. Never arrived.

Update: ordered in August. Only got a order confirmation. Not a shipped one. Apologies. Just wrote to them inquiring about the status.

I'm not sure what information would be on the Extract for the -74 Speedmaster that would have any financial value. However, I can understand why you might be interested in the watch's history.

The extract system works well everywhere except the USA where they have to be ordered via a Boutique and human error often causes foul ups.

I would definitely get one for the SM300, but not bother for the Speedmaster. They can throw up nice surprises on an older watch.

Like military issued or NAAFI/PX sold or delivered to an unusual location. My Ed White was NAAFI delivered which tallied nicely with the sellers story that his dad had got it when he was in the British Army.

I started a recent thread related to this, wondering about the “trust” that can be fully it into these extracts regarding bracelets in particular. Got some great responses from well versed members.

I’d say it helps for personal justification but I also found out that it is possible these extracts can be “spotty”.

Thanks to everyone. I just dropped off my SM300 at the boutique in NYC. They unfortunately have to send it to NJ to get the caseback opened because of the radium. I probably should've saved them the time and did it myself/wrote the info down... rookie move on my part haha

I have extracts for two of my Omegas, a 1910 pocket watch and a 1945, birth year wristwatch. For me the extract is part of the story of the watch and the cost is small in comparison with the cost of the watch[IMG]

Closing the loop here. Finally got the extract for my SM300. A little underwhelming/was hoping for a cool back story but at least I got an autograph from Aeschilmann :D IMG_2640.jpg

I would definitely order the extract for both watches!

It will not take such a long time for your -74 to become today’s -64. Just only a mere ten years. Then your Speedmaster will be in the same category as your SM300.

I always try to get them for all my watches, because how can we take for granted that Omega will keep providing this service for ever?

I would say from my experience, an extract is well worth getting - I had 2 “surprises” - A NAAFI delivered 105012 and a NAAFI delivered 145012..
The extract provided a more interesting providence...
