Arabic numeral dial on two 1966 Constellations

Hi there, I've recently inherited two Constellations both with movement dates from 1966. One is an Omega Constellation
167.005 , 551cal. And the other a 1966 Constellation with calendar, model 168.010 with 561 cal. I was wondering how rare the Arabic numeral dials are on these watches. I've seen quite a few out there with Roman numerals or part Arabic but not full. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum!

I don't believe I have ever seen Constellations with Arabic numeral markers. I love watches with full sets of Arabic markers and I love Constellations.

Welcome @HoratioG

Constellations like these were often sold in the UK market.
They are reasonably uncommon.
Congratulations on your inheritance.
If you intend to wear and use them, it would be worthwhile considering a service.

better pics of each ( individually) would be useful.
The 168.010 is an early version as it has a cal 561 movt, most had the later 564 movt.

I was fortunate that my Great Uncle was a Clock and Watch maker and he also qualified to service and repair Omegas. Was sorting through his untouched workshop today trying to sort things out. Numerous wrist watches, clocks , pocket watches, Omega manuals , crystals , springs and oh I almost forgot a 1937 Luftwaffe cockpit clock.

Mate if we chipped in some cash do you think you’d be willing to get some of those books scanned?

Wiredly enough I've just bought a scanner for the old family photos I can definitely start scanning the Omega technical guides for people at no cost. The books will definitely take longer. I've also discovered these parts catalogues from Rolex and Longines, I was wondering are they worth anything, I've no idea.

Mate that would be great if you could, there are companies that will scan old books for a fee (its too big a job for a person) and it would be great to get those preserved as PDFs and then OCR’ed. I’ve sent you a PM to discuss, can still sell them afterwards too.

The Arabic numeral Constellation dials are legitimate variants and are shown in this UK catalog from 1967:

I believe these were only sold in the UK.

Hope you are able to work something out on the scanning. Would love to see those images hosted here.

Take care,

How about Arabic numbers on a pie pan?
That looks rather taxing to apply, are the numbers at an angle or something or is the dial recessed to fit them? And are the numbers 10, 11 and 12 double riveted?

Do you by any chance have a "Naiad Medicus 1939 Crown?" As you can see by my picture and the original picture in black and white it is flatter compared to mine.

Kind regards,
Stewart
