Hi all
A rare visitor here so apologies if this is previously discussed. Have a recent white-dial Seamaster & a few JLC dress watches, but this caught my eye and I keep going back. AQUA TERRA Senda Gold 220.52.41.21.03.001. I have a milestone birthday next year and Mrs suggests something significant to mark the event. Also have great love for Green Dial Aqua Terra😀

If you like it, buy it, our opinions don't matter. That being said the blue dial matches wonderfully with the Sedna gold.

Agree: no one else’s opinion should matter.

I’m a big fan of the Aqua Terra line and own a white gold model myself that I wear every day. Looks great for all occasions.

This one, being Sedna gold, will call a little more attention to itself, and being on a rubber strap (mine is on a bracelet) might not look at home with a suit, if that matters to you. But as a casual watch—assuming you like the look of yellow/red gold, it’s terrific.

Sizing the strap right will be critical, as it’s going to be top-heavy. 146g of gold, pretty much all of it in the case—you’ll want to keep that tight against the wrist or it could get ungainly, rolling all over the place.

Also, unless you just have to get it new from Omega, I’d encourage you to shop around for preowned. Precious metal Omegas don’t generally hold value well, and while this one doesn’t seem to lose 50% (as many do—I bought mine basically new at about half retail), it does seem to sell for around 5k less than retail. Plenty of them out there for the having. The AD/OB experience is nice, but I don’t know if anyone would say it’s worth a 25% premium.

As far as modern Omegas go. These are my faves.

thanks for that. All relevant & useful comments. Fortunately I rarely need to dig out a suit😀. Other than one JLC duetto my wife bought for my 40th (almost 20 years ago) other purchases have been nearly-new or grey market. (Re watch inflation: the JLC Duetto was around AD list €4k in 2004, it's now around €14k) I can live without the fussing of AD. In EU I see these available @ 30% off list (€15k vs €23.5k).

But than I see the green dial Aqua Terra and think... maybe that's a bit less flash, a bit more me. And green is my favourite colour. Have a white dial Seamaster 300 , JLC Duetto & JLC Master Control (which is the most underrated watch: lovely to wear) .
All are SS, so a Senda gold Aqua Terra would be a contrast to the normal. for me. Choices, choices...😀

I love this watch. It’s a destination watch to commemorate a big milestone… so I might say just go have a conversation with your AD, they might be willing to get you a little closer to the used/grey price than you think.

Re AD discount, maybe, but I asked that question when buying my Seamaster and was quickly declined. I would prefer to support retail, but not quite that much. I am in Ireland, and high spending visitors can reclaim VAT ( Sales Tax ) @23% when leaving the country. Combined with the current strength of USD, I suspect that's where many retail sales come from.

cool. It’s an amazing piece and hope you find one you like in mint condition. I love how the rubber strap has the Sedna gold strip at the end to blend with the case and bezel. I also think that means you’re fully committed to this strap because after market straps won’t have that nice touch. But I love the strap and I believe it has the minderless clasp that folds under which is a super cool look. Congrats on six oh.

There’s no way that’s a fast-moving piece for Omega. If the dealer isn’t budging on price in a meaningful way, I’d absolutely go preowned/gray. I too love supporting retail, but that love stops short of getting gouged by the SWATCH corporation. 😀 They can afford to drop their prices to get closer to fair market value.

Revisiting this post, the Milestone Birthday is getting close. I am still circling back to this Senda Gold Omega watch as the one of interest.

As new grey market is about 30% off list price. If anyone has new thoughts or recent experience , I would love to hear them!

There are some pretty great deals on these used, they lose a lot when bought new in general. Its a bloody nice watch so I’m sure you’ll enjoy it

Just because you asked about green a while back…. I love this as an unexpected daily. I steered away from AT for a good while, for some reason didn’t appeal, but the more I looked the more they grew on me. Bought this nearly new on the bracelet (which is super comfy but I’m not the biggest fan of polished centre links and it made the watch overall a bit too bling for me for most days). When with the OEM black rubber strap and it’s just great. Dresses up and down really well.

All this said, I’m a massive Sedna fan (I have a half gold globemaster and a Sedna FOIS speedie, which I know aren’t everyone’s tastes) so buy what your heart tells you. Gold seems appropriate for a milestone birthday (says the bloke who also has one at the end of this year!)

Hmmm, also just checked out the Sedna watch on the UK Omega site. Some bizarre pricing going on. The blue dial version on rubber is £20,700, but you can buy what looks to be exactly the same watch but with a brown dial on brown leather for £16,940. That’s a heck of a premium for a blue dial and rubber strap! (Unless I’m missing something obvious).

I asked. The Brown dial is no longer available so is old stock and not subject to recent price increases. And also a different strap. A fraction less Gold 🙁

You know what's better than a watch for a milestone birthday?

A vacation and a watch for your milestone birthday.

Zero doubts you can get the severely underrated sedna gold Aqua Terra in blue for 15-20% off from a US AD. There is always room in precious metal. I was recently offered a 20% discount on a full PM Speedy w/o even asking, and that's a universally more coveted watch I would think.

I'm joking, but on the square. Hypothetically, you could visit Jackson Hole or Yellowstone, hit a Montana AD sans sales tax and discount. The money saved would pay for a big portion of the trip.

I can't wait for pics whatever you direction you choose.
