Aqua Terra found in the garden ?

Hello everyone!

I'm not quite new to OF anymore (joined in 2019) but I am quite new to modern Omega. I am more of a vintage guy but I thought I would share this.

I live in an apartment building that has two driveways on each side of the building that lead down to our parking lot. Beyond that parking lot is an easement which has been a community garden of sorts for our building. The other day my neighbor happened to text me saying she found a watch in the garden and was sure it was mine. I was quite surprised to find this.

To my knowledge it is an Aqua Terra from around 2014. It is quite filthy and reeks of cologne making me wonder if someone dropped it or whether it was possibly stolen and then discarded. Who knows. We have asked neighbors on our street if anyone had a watch lost or stolen but no one has come forward. My neighbor, knowing how much I enjoy watches has basically given it to me. I will still of course wait for a good while to see if anyone comes forward but if no one does I guess I just officially got into modern. The watch however isn't running, has a marker floating loose inside, the bezel is stuck, and the rotor appears to be completely loose as well.

Thought I would share the story as I never expected in my wildest dreams find a watch let alone an Omega in my back garden. Insights are welcome 😀

Better photos would be nice if you have a chance to take some more. I'm not so sure this is a real Omega...

At first glance, you have an Omega 231.10.44.50.06.001; but the movement looks really wrong to me. We need better pictures. It could very well be a fake.

The real watch on Omega's website: https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/...-chronometer-chronograph-44-mm-23110445006001

EDIT: Others chimed in while I was writing this. My suspicion is confirmed; I vote fake as well.

EDIT again: looked at those pictures again and noticed the end links, the clasp, the.... I'm facepalming for not just screaming "FAKE" at first blush. 😵‍💫

It's a fake. Sorry.
No need to be sorry 👍 I don't have anything into it. Good lesson learned though.

disappointing I am sure. But as other have said, a fake branding and not a very good one. Perhaps some day you will acquire nice real one.

At least now you don't have to worry about having it repaired. 😁

Do the world a favor and smash it to bits. It can be cathartic. 😜
I'd gladly do it but I'd have to fish it out of the dumpster first 😁 when I said that thing reeked, that thing REEKED. Thank you everyone for the commiserations and I'm thankful for the knowledge of the community. I shall happily return one day once I secure a REAL modern Omega. Until then you can find me on the vintage subthreads where I'm also still learning 📖

Great, now your neighbor thinks you wear fake watches and bad cologne. 😁

I wonder how many people on finding a genuine watch worth some money would make an effort to find the owner.

Please folks, remember that fragrances are meant to be a skin scent, not a room scent.
For future reference, if you run into toxic cologne again on a watch (I had a friend that got a Dan Henry on which the rubber strap was soaked in some cheap-ass nasty) wipe down thoroughly with white vinegar, after it’s dry, drop into bag of baking soda for a day or two- rinse and repeat until nasty is gone. It works.

But how am I supposed to attract the woman all the way at the other end of the bar?

You send her a glass of wine.

The trick is to send it very hard to ensure the wine hits her. She'll come to you, trust me 😁

I wish life was this easy… but it isn’t 😁

You better inform your neighbour it’s fugazzi before he starts to think you owe him something in return.
