Apollo 8 waiting room

Hey folks. I ordered my first omega (DSoTM A8) 3 months ago via OB. Looks like supply is really starting to dry up of these. OB originally told me 3-6 months but i've been advised it might be closer to 9 months now.

It was in stock briefly on the UK website but it's been out of stock on all regions for a few months now.

Anybody else waiting with me?

This is one watch that if I was on a waiting list at an OB I would start looking for a secondary source. There are a fair number available on C24 at close to retail price. But this won't last forever.

Do you think it's possible the OB will cancel my order if it can be fulfilled? I've been told OBs don't do refunds and i've paid for the watch in full. C24 didn't have any A8 locally to me and I might end up paying more due to tax.

Ah ok. I assumed you were UK as £ displayed in pic.

Omega UK site was the last place it was in stock (from Omega directly) and now it's Out of Stock there too. Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the reply!

I'm not familiar with Australian Federal or state laws but I seriously doubt they can keep your money if they can't deliver the product. Surprised they would require payment in full for this piece. You should ask them what happens if they can't deliver.

I just visited OB in Poland and they have one on stock. Guess they do not really send from one OB to another?

I think it depends on how Swatch has organized its regional distribution network. In the U.S., OB's are permitted to request watches from other OB's and Tourbillon locations all across the U.S. But they weren't able to check inventory of OB's in other parts of the world, and pull watches from those stores.

Transferring between OBs in different countries is potentially complicated by import/export duties and laws.

OK - makes sense - this is not treated as 1 company by local laws, but there will be different tax laws/customs in one country and another - maybe a little bit easier within EU, but definately harder in other cases.

I ordered my piece February 3rd this year with projected delivery within April. Beginning of April I was told that would be rather May. In may they told me - no chance. I picked it end of June eventually. When I was paying for it my salesman said, that now Omega replies with 9-12 month lead time.

The watch is absolutely gorgeous and worth every penny for how it looks and how it's made. Please be aware though, that legibility is not the biggest asset of this watch - you need certain light angles to see hands' layout. But today with time being displayed pretty much everywhere who cares about reading time from the wristwatch 😉

Here my short wrist roll:

I also must admit that I am quite astonished with the way AD's act with down payments in AUS or USA. Here in Poland they do require small down payment (10%) but you can opt out any time before final invoice is made. What is more - when the watch finally arrives at the shop you can come, try it and make final decision while looking at the real piece. If you do not like it or simply change your mind you are allowed to resign and will be fully refunded.

Warsaw Omega Boutique does not even require down payments for orders and will not accept one, even if you want to place some deposit.

It's the same in the USA, you can cancel at any time and get your deposit back. Even when the watch arrives and you don't like it you can cancel the transaction.

Well, after 3 months my Apollo 8 is gone. I still sustain my previous opinion about how great it looks and how well it wears. Unfortunately the fact that most of the glances you cant’t see the hands and read the time bothered me a lot, even though I had thought it wouldn’t).

I had one more problem, which was more on the mental side of the moon 😀. In reality I was a bit afraid to wear it, going around corners of walls 1 metre aw minimum - all the time I was thinking not to hit it at any hard surface and chip 🙁
