Anything suspicious about this crosshair Seamaster?

Hi

First time poster, and would be first time Omega-owner!

I am considering buying this watch. It is described as a reference 14745 Omega Seamadter automatic crosshair. Steel case, 34.5mm, year of production 1960.

The omega logo is in an unusual place - at 12 o'clock. From looking on the forums here opinion seems to be divided as to whether this can be original or not.

Does anything about this watch seem suspicious? Or would it be a good buy? If it would - any idea what a decent price would be? If it looks like a goer it will be my wedding watch, which would be exciting!

Dial is refinished. Note “Seamaster” is all wrong.

Personally - I would not buy the watch: (one) index was missing , the dial damaged so the "artist" created the best he could do. I may be wrong...but just look at the other two 14745 at C24!!

Yes, the dial is totally repainted. An ok job but I doubt it's worth what they're asking. You can do better!

I think we can all agree that the dial is terrible. Now, can we talk about the Omega symbol on the crystal. The shape looks quite strange to me. Are there fake Omega crystals?

Good remark, DanS! Looks indeed "slim" and the edges bent too much.
Wait, looked at my second one from the 60ies - now I am unsure... I have two types of fonts...

Same here. If this is a fake omega crystal I do have a few of these on my watches I’m afraid.

I think that crystals fine. I’ve had numerous barn find watches with this naive looking Omega symbol.

I made the mistake of taking a sip of coffee just as I clicked on this thread. The immediate view of the Seamaster script resulted in my having to wipe some coffee off the keyboard and screen.

You’ve been around here for the better part of a decade, shouldn’t you know better when a thread reads “Should I be suspicious about…XY”? 😁

The crystal is indeed fine... I have a '53 Seamaster with its original crystal and the symbol was shaped like that. Alas, it was crap and had to be replaced. The crown has the Omega symbol with the same shape.

There are, but this isn’t one from what I see. Just like the Omega symbol on dials and crowns has evolved, so has the one on the crystal, so this is an older crystal.
