@Gav1967 any brand name on that bag?
Yes but took some finding. On the zipper pull it has RJR which stand for "Rocha John Rocha" and now I remember I bought from the UK department store Debenhams. (No longer trading). This was a brand exclusive to debenhams as far as I am aware but maybe on line somewhere you might find one if you are interested

I think I should clarify what “messenger” bag means to many here in the states- what I am seeing above is the co-opting of the term for what is just a tote or satchel.

These huge things with plastic clasps and Velcro flap

I think “messenger” has been used in fashion items in the same way “military” has

I have a messenger bag - at least that's how it's marketed. It's a little smaller than the one in the photo above and made of heavy fabric. Main compartment zips, and has a flap over the top to help make it rain resistant. I use it mostly doing tourist things, so it's carrying a small bottle of water (1/2 liter), a small camera, a small pack of tissues, and tickets and itinerary, and maybe a paperback book. Usually across one shoulder and on the opposite hip. The compartments save a lot of time locating things. If someone thinks it's insufficiently masculine, too bad.

I think "cross body bags" and "hip bags" are becoming more popular...have no problem using one if I'm going somewhere I need to carry stuff. Use a slim leather satchel/messenger bag for work sometimes; when traveling or family outing requiring me to carry keys, large iPhone, wallet...passport(s) when overseas... I use this pacsafe one (metal reinforced strap, RFID blocking material, locking zippers, self destruct button, etc.
Used to use a Jack Spade waxed canvas one...wore out from carrying too many books. Also waxed canvas bags tend to smell funky after several years.

Really? Maybe you should broaden your horizons. I personally would not use any of these, but obviously some people would. Not sure anything made by Dunhill makes you look like a douche. Unless you’re a certain English Prince that lives in America.
In the DC area bike messengers in the '80s and '90s were often huge douches (reckless/ dangerous as $hit to pedestrians and even cars). It's likely seeing a messenger bag kicks in @JwRosenthal 's PTSD. I personally still get a nervous twitch when I see one.

I only remember that it was a competition to see who could lug the biggest chain and lock around.

Yeah, their #1 way to voice their displeasure with cars and drivers.

Never under estimate a fanny pack. Every one should have one around just in case they become fashion again 😁

I’m not big on man purses so I usually use this:

Wife and kids hate it. I love it. I used to watch a lot of Beavis and Butt-head when I was a kid

Dibs.

I have a leather postman's bag that I bought about 20 years ago. I use it when I travel. The leather is faded and beat to crap. It looks awesome.

Well used and ready for more.

I have Peak Design bags in a couple sizes that I wear daily.

I took my son to the playground the other day, and there was another dad there with the medium size Peak Design Everyday Satchel (murse). I asked him how he liked it and he was like “Love it! Here check it out!” and handed it to me. I had been considering getting the smaller size, and getting to handle the medium in-person solidified it for me, so thanks for the tip!

As a couple people have me mentioned, I think camera bags are a great solution for what I’m after (which is it seems like most Peak Design bags are.) I actually have a leather camera bag made by Ona that could meet my needs well, but it’s quite stiff and I’d rather not get caught in the rain with it if I can avoid it.

Being entirely unimaginative, I find myself murse-less.

Small bag daily, add leather backpack in goat(light but tough) if a plane or train is involved.

bought the bp in a thrift 30 years ago when out in the Pacific NW when strap popped on a carryon. No more carryons

carry by top handle, over one shoulder or two if contents necessitate.

matches my associated Tiger Pilot jacket in deep brown goat….that I still have, too. Both aged and broken in and comfortable.

Not sure if this counts as a murse…but I use my old mil issued flight helmet bag to haul stuff around…wallet, car keys, foldable hairbrush [for really bad hair days], Moonwatch Only book, motorcycle helmet, skateboard helmet [pictured below]…

The real flex is not carrying anything.
Dude…it’s really difficult [for me] to not carry a foldable hairbrush due to almost every day being a bad hair day.
