Does anyone use a 2G phone?

Here in Canada they have dismantled the 2G cellphone networks, and almost everyone uses some sort of smart phone. I am equally guilty of this, although a number of years ago I went on a bit of a detox using a phone only phone.

the 2G version of this phone no longer works here and I was wondering if elsewhere these are still useful.

Still use a 2G here in Portugal, calls and (infrequent) texts only. Works fine.

Here in Azerbaijan they are still used and when I lived in Malawi very few people had smart phones. Internet was slow and expensive.

okay, if either of you (or anyone else in the OF community) can provide a good home for this Punkt phone, I am happy to send it along.

I did try to donate it to one of the shelter organizations here but they would not take it based upon its low-tech-ness

Man, I didn't know that! I've got a low tech flip phone that I use when my in-laws come into town. Haven't used it in the last 2 years but it worked on the 2G networks.

Sad to hear it's now a paperweight.... 🙁

Thanks for the kind offer! Mine works fine, though, so no need to ship.

just dumped my Rogers extortion plan......even so, December 31 is coming. Hence trying to send it somewhere useful, otherwise, just to the recycler. 🙁
