Anyone purchased a Code41 watch before?

I gave you an answer in the previous post...I don't work on Seiko.

When you have enough posts to do so, you can post a WTB thread. Doing so before you have the posts is considered poor form here.

Well since I didn't know you didn't work on Seiko when I asked the question you are overreacting.
You just said initially that you serviced watches for a living.
I do know three watchmakers who do specialise in these watches who cannot get the parts I need.
My watch uses a Miyota 82s7 so I think it highly unlikely I'll have any issues getting parts except maybe the crystal.
The movements code 41 are using now are from an independent Swiss based brand that are being slightly changed by Code 41.
Sorry I came across as defensive, but I simply cannot abide snobs.

I have read the thread and your previous post. I specifically wrote that the issues are "more or less" the same and that "in some ways" like owning a vintage watch. I have several vintage watches that are impossble to find some parts for, which is in some ways (possibly) like owning one of these in the future. I think the comparison is fair.

Sure, I got all that. There is a difference though, so we can agree to disagree.

Again, I'd already answered the question. When you have 200 posts, feel free to post a WTB thread in the proper section.

I hope that is the case.

Im sure some people respond to what they think someone has said, rather than actually reading posts and responding to what people have actually said.

I hope that is the case.

You really are determined to make me regret my purchase aren't you.
Is this how you get your kicks by pulling people down.
Well I've been into watches for 30 years now and have learned to take the doom and gloom merchants with a huge dose of salt.

And after nearly 20 years being away from forums, I'm pleased to see that the haters who are determined to stop others enjoying their hobby are still as prolific today as they were back then.

No one is determined to stop anyone enjoying anything.

Various people are however pointing out the risk of buying watches from companies that do not provide spare parts and may not be around in 12 month time, let alone 12 years time.

I would suggest you detwist your knickers before doing so requires surgical intervention.

No, it was a sincere expression that I hope you don’t have problems with parts down the road. But it appears you are determined to be a victim here, so you can enjoy that all you like.

But this is a futile argument.
So the message seems to be, never buy a watch from a start up brand

I'm not determined to be a victim but you are certainly determined to drag me down.
I know this is going to be disappointing for you but it hasn't worked.
I'm still very happy and if one day it stops working, so what.
Its an inanimate lump of metal at the end of the day.
People like you are just determined to see newcomers to the market fail.
Its tragic really

It's a valid argument.

And some people choose not to buy watches from startup brands or kickstarter brands for this reason.

That doesn't mean you have to agree with it - it's your money, buy what you like, maybe don't get so worried about what other people think, or engage in arguments about it?

Come on. That’s a ridiculous straw man and I’m sure you know no one is saying that.

Simply be aware of the possible risks in sourcing parts down the road from some of these small manufacturers and if knowing that, people decide their enjoyment of the watch will outweigh the risks, then great

What irritates me is that your post is predacated on the assumption that I'm not aware of the risks.
Of course I am.
I'm not stupid.
I'm fully aware that the brand in question may not be around this time next year, not helped by the fact that watch enthusiasts a lot of the time decry them because they enjoy seeing failure.
Personally I think new brands should be celebrated and supported by the watch community, not shot down in flames before they've even taken off.
I remember the same doom and gloom merchants attacking the relaunch of the Triumph motorcycle brand back in the early 90s.
John Bloor its founder was a former double glazing salesman and property developer, and this of course was used by the haters to portray him as a fly by night cowboy by the hardcore Meridan Triumph stolwarts.
"Don't waste your money" they said "because you'll never get parts when they go bust in a few years.
Luckily these people were ignored by the buying public and Triumph Hinkley under Bloor went on to be a massive success, and today are one of the top worldwide sellers.
It amounts to the same thing as this.

Wow, I just read how a small stone became Everest in one person's eyes...

It was fascinating... Or a troll...

Just caught up on today’s contributions to this thread.

And to think I was going to switch on the tv for a bit of entertainment.
