@Archer, you are reading too much into the assembly labor cost. The watches are assembled in a Chinese factory where all the workers are names "Swiss". It actually takes 1,427 hours to assemble each, thus the $43 cost.

It doesn't. But if I compare this even to a small brand like Nomos, their customer service is very different. In fact I just ordered a large batch of spare parts from them that should be here tomorrow - few days after first contacting them to place my order. Note that some of their watches are far less pricey than this current offering from Code41 is.

Just to follow up on this, after some delays due to many parts of the US not handling snow very well, my Nomos parts arrived today...
So in contrast to a micro-brand who won't let anyone buy parts for their watches, Nomos is easy to work with. It's part of the reason my wife and I both own a Nomos, but we'll never own a Code41...
