Anyone in Michigan know when the OB in Somerset is reopening?

I contacted Omega with the same question a few weeks ago and was told “we don’t know”.
I saw they moved across the way from the old store but it’s all boarded up with just a logo.

Somerset brings back nice memories. When my wife and I were dating we spent many Saturdays at Somerset. Even before they expanded. We lived in Windsor back then.

We have not been since 2020, but will start again soon. We normally stay in Birmingham at the Townsend and tried the Shinola once also.

We are DIA members and need to make a trip soon.

I was wondering about the OB also.

I was a client there for nearly a decade, and in that time I was fortunate enough to get to know the staff quite well, and they treated my wife and me like royalty.

Unfortunately, it's permanently closed. The client list has been transferred to the Chicago boutique, although that's too far away for us to visit in person.

As of last spring, the plan was to move the boutique to a new space at Somerset (much smaller than the original), and to reduce the staff. The technician, who was a fantastic sales associate and a good friend, returned home to France. The manager called me personally in early August to let me know that Omega USA had decided not to reopen it. The Somerset boutique has also been removed from the global store location list on Omega's website.

A real loss for Michigan and the loyal Omega clientele.

Still there but they really should remove it. https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/store/storedetails/7354

I agree

two weeks ago, I received six images of new Omega models from a representative at the Chicagoland Boutique. I phoned him, as it seemed the goal was new sales instead of retaining the value of clientele and existing support. I was obviously displeased with the loss of our OB, as something as simple as bracelet adjustment on a high end piece makes me very nervous. But if I were visiting the Somerset OB, I would learn more about other watches, history etc, which itself was fascinating.

What I did learn is that the store across from the old OB location will likely be an Omega AD, I think some contractual obstacles need to be resolved though.

I am not sure who will be staffing the location, but would love to see the staff from the OB. In particular, David and (I think) Anthony, who is an ace technician. At the very least, I’d like to know if either have remained local as I do need some servicing and need some hands that can be trusted to a 321.

I’ll post more if I find out any new details.

Any further update on the definitive status of the Omega Boutique Somerset Collection location? Closed permanently?

Would anyone have any recommendations regarding sizing or servicing in the general Detroit area? With the Somerset group not available, I'd like to know any local resources for quality, detailed care.

Your best bet is Lewis Jewelers in Ann Arbor.

Looks like a visit to Lewis just for a look and of course lots of questions.
Does anyone know where the staff from the Somerset / Omega boutique went?

I guess I had built up some trust with that crew, though that was some time ago. Of course OCD kicks in when dealing with watches and those that service them.

Bumping an old thread - but Tapper's confirmed that a new OB is opening up in Somerset. There's a spot next to PF Changs (across from the Tapper's Rolex Boutique) boarded up with large Omega signage. No mention of date but can't wait for them to re-open. I'm hoping some of the old crew can rejoin because they were seriously the best.

The Omega website lists the Tapper's location in Novi, on Haggerty Road, as an official AD. I wonder if Tapper's will open a dedicated Omega store next to PF Chang's on the south side of Somerset. I'm surprised to hear that the Omega logo is still up there, but it's a positive indication nonetheless.

I was at Summerset over this past weekend to check out the new Tappers multiple boutiques for JLC, IWC, Panerai, Cartier, and Tudor, then decided to venture over to the Rolex Boutique across the street to prove to my 11-year-old that even he can not get a Submariner without waiting like everyone else. The Omega "New Omega Experience Coming Soon" walls were up like they were doing work. Yes, this is next to PF Changs. Interestingly enough, there are also walls right next to Omega for Rolex directly across from the current Rolex location.

If this is anything like the set up on the other side, you will be able to walk between the boutiques through a sliding glass door and the staff will venture back and forth between brands. That was what was happening between JLC, IWC, Panerai, Cartier, and Tudor. If you have not seen the new set up at Sumerset it is worth a visit.

Interesting. I haven't been to Somerset in months, so this is new to me. I wonder if Tapper's will introduce an Omega showroom - their Novi location is listed on Omega's website as an AD.
