I am lead to believe there is a large population of Croatian descent in Australia. Maybe this has something to do with this blatant Anti Serbian persecution.
😉
I find it ironic that some people won't take a vaccine (often because they "don't know what is in it"), but have no problem going to a hospital and being pumped with drugs once they are sick. Many also put a Splenda in their coffee every morning and never question what's in it... 🤦
There are lots of otherwise intelligent people who believe whacky things. I have a cousin who was an RN for many decades, but refuses to get vaccinated for pretty much anything. She is retired now and posts about the healing powers of crystals of Facebook...go figure.
Lets not go down the ingredients path..... in 2021 .... Baby and toddler food that says it’s “healthy” can contain as much as two teaspoons of unnecessary sugar, despite being sold as weaning food, a study has found..... Setting the right path in the first thousand days in a child’s life is not just to avoid obesity, it helps guide children to grow to their potential. About 80 percent of the brain is developed by the age of two.
I noticed you focused on my tongue-in-cheek comment about Splenda, and want to argue about child food ingredients.
On topic is the reality that anti-vaxers won't take a vaccine, but have no issue taking whatever a doctor suggests when they are sick, even if they don't know what is in the drug or how long it took to develop.

At this stage (and taking Djokovic as the example) I am interested what his absolute risk of hospitalisation is from any of the current varients.
You’ve opened this thread intending, it seems clearer now, topmost interested to muckrake around the issue of scientific illiteracy. Not that you haven’t had plenty of help, but it’s your bait they’ve all taken.
Science is imperfect (and so, too, then, is medicine). British statistician George Box wrote the famous line, “All models are wrong, some are useful.” Historian Yuval Noah Harari puts it, “Scientists generally agree that no theory is 100 percent correct; thus, the real test of knowledge is not truth, but utility.” Then of course Einstein’s “One thing I have learned in a long life: that all our science, measured against reality, is primitive and childlike—and yet is the most precious thing [humans] have.” Then finally, there’s Hippocrates, whose underlying writings that form the basis of the Hippocrates oath could be roughly translated as, “the physician must be able to tell the antecedents, know the present, and foretell the future… to do good or to do no harm” which when reviewed actually foretells that essentially medicine’s perfection and avoidance of some harm is unobtainable.
The point is, since the beginning of everything, mathematicians, historians, scientists, and physicians have all been in collective agreement that theirs is not a perfect project, and that science (I’d say particularly medicine) should focus more on whether something can be applied to everyday life in a useful manner rather than debating endlessly if an answer is correct in all cases.
It’s a rather banal thing to continually focus on exceptions or imperfections, when the only thing that was ever of importance is a weighing of net benefit.
I do not want to argue. I am just noting that major manufacturers still include ingredients which are less than healthy. One would hope for very young children it would have improved by now (the issue was raised some years ago). In terms of treatment (taking cancer as an example) I have seen different treatment pathways recommended and also examples of overtreatment when insurance funded (especially for diagnostics). For health care the Lord looks after those who look after themselves and are well informed on their treatment options and rights.
unregulated food vs highly researched and studies medicine. Your confusing apples with oranges.
the lord looks after people… so you don’t wear a seatbelt?
A fellow was stuck on his rooftop in a flood. He was praying to God for help.
Soon a man in a rowboat came by and the fellow shouted to the man on the roof, “Jump in, I can save you.”
The stranded fellow shouted back, “No, it’s OK, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me.”
So the rowboat went on.
Then a motorboat came by. “The fellow in the motorboat shouted, “Jump in, I can save you.”
To this the stranded man said, “No thanks, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith.”
So the motorboat went on.
Then a helicopter came by and the pilot shouted down, “Grab this rope and I will lift you to safety.”
To this the stranded man again replied, “No thanks, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith.”
So the helicopter reluctantly flew away.
Soon the water rose above the rooftop and the man drowned. He went to Heaven. He finally got his chance to discuss this whole situation with God, at which point he exclaimed, “I had faith in you but you didn’t save me, you let me drown. I don’t understand why!”
To this God replied, “I sent you a rowboat and a motorboat and a helicopter, what more did you expect?”
I do not share my private sitaution but like many it has been a challenge. I did think the interveiw with the UK ICU doctor in my OP was interesting and worth sharing. It also matches some conversations I have had in hospitals and I have not raised anything which is innaccurate. At least this thread did not get locked or deleted so hopefully the level of debate and data exchange has improved.
Well, to get this back to tennis, I’ll say congrats to Team Canada for winning the ATP Cup 2-0 over Spain in the final. Sweet revenge for the loss against Spain in the 2019 Davis Cup final...
👍👍👍👍
