Anyone buy a Zenith Sporto and get a Hamilton?

Long shot here:

Bought a Hamilton HTC on eBay from UK and got a Zenith Sporto from the seller.

Obviously a mix up in shipping from the seller. Haven’t heard back from them yet but hoping if it was someone in the US on this forum, we could just do a swap and not have to go through the whole international return process.

Would be amazing if that worked out but chances are like 1 in 10000?

Have you tried cross-posting to other watch forums? Good luck! Gladly following this story to see how it plays out.

You never know! I have purchased on eBay and found I was bidding against members here so anything is possible.
It’s evening in the UK so will see what the seller says in the am. Just hoping the return and resend process goes smoothly- never had this happen before,

Every time I ship a watch I get this brief panicky feeling that I put the wrong watch in the package. It's like worrying that you left the garage door open. I try to remember to take photos so I can double-check, but sometimes I forget.

Me too. I make it a point to do one watch/pipe, etc at a time from packing to the application of the label to avoid confusion. Yes it’s more time consuming (rather than batch printing from the USPS webstore) but it’s one of those alleviating a stressor things.

So, update- heard from the seller, looking like this may be an eBay global shipping problem which just makes it even more of a problem

Hello James
Thank you for contacting me.
Could you send a photo of the address label I printed stuck on the envelope the watch was in?

The watch delivered to you was bought by another person.
There has been a series of mix ups in delivery by the ebay global shipping service.
The buyer of the zenith watch received a message from DHL saying they delivered it to him. Although he never received it.
As you have confirmed now, that his watch has been delivered to you (as you have kindly informed me).

The Hamilton watch is saying out for delivery in BALTIMORE MD 12 hours ago.
Is your location in Baltimore? ( If it is, you may still receive the Hamilton watch) . Can you confirm ?

I will contact ebay tomorrow morning to see what can be done to sort this out.
Unfortunately all ebay provide as seller is the shipping hub address and a customer name and # reference number, so I will have to get onto them
Thanks for your patience and for telling me. Am sorry this has happened
Bernice

Yup. Have been back and forth with the seller, she’s a bit upset- rightly so. I told her to reach out to the buyers she sold to that week to verify they got what they ordered. Hopefully it will all get resolved.

Is there still a chance you’re receiving both watches?

So final update:
Seller and I have been in regular contact- I feel so bad for her. Both the Zenith buyer and I have to initiate claims with eBay for her to approve them. I am returning the Zenith (to the UK- I assume she has to eat the shipping as eBay global won’t assume responsibility), and the Hamilton is lost somewhere with DHL, so the zenith buyer has to claim a lost item. The rub is that the Hamilton was worth a bit more than the zenith and since that package was labeled as the zenith, she’s gonna lose money if it was insured for the Zenith’s value.
I told her that if the Hammy turns up to let me know- I’m not hopeful though.
I was really excited about this one as I have always wanted an HTC like that and this one, despite needing some work (and a pusher) was a very good deal. So the passive hunt continues.

Oy, what a mess. Hope it works out for you and for her - sounds like an honest seller dealing with an eBay nightmare.

I'm always surprised to learn of a new way eBay and/or GSP sucks, this must be like number 501.

And yet, the abusive relationship/addiction continues.

Sorry for your (And their) troubles. At least she got someone reasonable as the receiver. If you were like half the other buyers, the story would have a different tone.

It makes me wonder about the guy who was supposed to get the Zenith and was shipped the Hamilton but said he never got it.

So the cluster-fυck continues. eBay won’t allow her to buy a return shipping label since it went through global shipping. So according to a notification I got from eBay- I am supposed to pay for the return shipping and then ask for reimbursement from the seller.
They essentially are washing their hands of it- we are on our own. If we had been on our own from the start, I would have gotten the fυcking watch!

Ebay has really lost the plot sometimes. I have to hope its situations where the decisions are automated and there are not human eyes on the issue, but even if that's the case, and it might not be, there are still policy level issues.

I've been straight up scammed on Ebay, with tons of other sellers leaving repeated negative feedback that the seller was a scammer, like 5 in a row, and Ebay still sided with the seller and told me it was my problem and blocked me from leaving negative feedback. Madness.

In that case Paypal was the solution. They took care of it no problem. Is paypal involved in your transactions? If so, get them involved and forget Ebay, they are hopeless. If you used Ebay's own payment system, and not paypal, then maybe you are out of luck, I'm not sure.

Hope something works out.

The seller has been a true mensch- one of the good ones. She said we have to wait 3 business days before they will even accept her call and escalate, she asked if that was ok- I said of course.
She reached out to the other buyer to find out where they are (since she can’t see where it went through global), and if he ever gets the Hammy, we will resolve it between ourselves- like civilized people.
And yes I used PayPal, but I don’t think I’ll have a problem with the seller- I just don’t want her to get screwed in this either.
