I often take a glance at the reddit watchex board, but tonight saw the most interesting listing: someone is selling their actual watch "company" (apparently hobby/purveyor?) via reddit post - a little inexpensive fashion watch brand...and the whole company is less than the price of most brand new Patek pieces! Brandywine watches is for sale in whole - website, current stock and etc, etc, etc. An example of their wares from the company website: This is the kind of weirdness that only gets seen in hobbies like ours - this is up there with the time I saw an ad in Hemmings Motor News classifieds for an entire town "in a western state; antique abandoned/junked cars included" *Not in any way related to this company or it's being sold, just found it rather hilarious.
What kills me is you know some poor "entrepreneur" out there is going to see this and think they've discovered the next 'big trend'
I suspect the true value of a company like that is the value of their used equipment less their financial obligations. If they have a nice space and got good lease terms and there is still a bit of time left on the lease that could have some value as well (could also be a drag is not good price/ terms). I assume the buyer is going to be taking over warranty obligations so that needs to be factored in.
