Sorry guys! But I'm never going to buy a watch again from the UK.

Probably I will... 😁 But I need to complain a bit. I bought a watch from our fellow member @bags1971 from the UK. Before the Brexit there were'nt any problems. But now Dutch customs hold the watch up to 30 days for inspection and import duties. WTF! Why?!? Just send it over and let me pay that 21%! Do some work for that 21%!

That’s exactly what they are doing: you pay for storage::rimshot::

But I see your problem though! Until now I myself did not have any issue. Every package was delivered within a couple of days. Maybe an issue with the description?

Maybe we should'nd have added the description 'personal pleasure for men' on the package!

Damn Brexit. Everything was fine before. Why would you destroy a perfectly running system just because you need to feel like a island!?!

Similar thing down here... They are a bit more efficient, it is between 7-10 days. Obviously, you pay 15€ flat fee for that, irrelevant of the amount of the import taxes... That is to be added afterwards, but it rarely equates to 21% ... More like 25%+ in my experience.

Prices got to be really interesting, and/or you really need to want that watch, to buy from outside the EU. Based on my experience since last July, they literally charged every single registered package...

When I buy something from Japan and shipping is with DHL then I pay import duties while the watch is in transit. DHL just send me a payment link for this. No waiting time at all. Is this the same for the UK? Because then I will ask every UK seller to ship with DHL. Much faster and easier.

I shipped to the Netherlands from the U.K. 6 months ago with DHL. At the door with a bill for duties within 3 days. Maybe I was lucky, but they’ve always seemed fairly quick so I don’t use anyone else

If it makes you feel better, I did exactly that (pre-paid customs as it was below 150€) and this happened:

Entry of my BoR bracelet was rejected as it was deemed dangerous. 😁

Yes. Those BoR's are a danger to society!

I'm going to write a letter to Boris in which I will explain Brexit was a mistake. I think this will resolve the problem.

You had better hurry up. Boris will be going on a very long holiday soon.

These sound like teething problems or a deliberate tactic to cause some trouble. I know France was threatening to make boarder delays over fishing rights but that seemed to calm down. The most import place we need to clam down is the Ukraine border / I am keeping fingers crossed for that.
I have had deliveries from USA and Canada into the UK - and there are no issues (sometimes they are identified for tax and sometimes not). Brexit is new plus people are isolating with Covid so reduced staff numbers have impacted all services. It should work fine once they get used to it and the politicians decide it can work well. DHL is probably a good bet / established systems and package scanners etc.

I sold a watch to a buyer in Poland last year. It was shipped from the U.S. via USPS international priority mail on November 30th. USPS tracking shows that it was processed through a facility of the Polish postal system in Warsaw on January 14th. The buyer is still waiting for it to be delivered. My last purchase from Europe (Crotia) took 55 days to make it to my door here in the U.S.

It’s all because of Covid-19 (not) 🤪

This is why I never ever use USPS lol. FedEx or UPS express can arrive worldwide UK to US, Europe, Australia, Hong Kong and more in a matter or days. It’s worth paying the extra.

Yes please write to Boris ASAP, let me know if you need a pen.

The import tax is as mentioned in other threads an unfortunate direct consequence of Brexit in both directions…. The delay is probably indirect, for example the paperwork wasn’t filled in correctly, and also everything is now being fully checked as of 1 Jan (controls were delayed), so customs may be overwhelmed (not to mention the workforce impact of Covid)

I’ve come across EU sellers who refuse to ship to the UK 🙁 luckily with Covid restrictions easing, I will soon be able to visit the EU for watch shopping . Good thing I have nice long arms..
