Any rumors about PO update?

I recently bought the PO 43.5mm 8900. My wrist size is 7.25 inches. It's a great looking watch. That said, it's a bit thicker than I would have ideally liked. I went with the solid black, although I think blue would have been a great choice as well.

Can I ask what size your wrist is? How does the 39.5 size sit on your wrist?

It looks nice! 😀 I have a 6.5" wrist.

I would def welcome an update on the PO, slightly thinner and quick release bracelet.

Why don't their marketing dept realise (I would say), that 90% of their customers are not deep sea saturation divers.
If the thickness of the PO is diving pressure related, why not introduce a PO 300?
I am more than sure that would suffice for the majority of submerged water related activities from the 90% target market.
A PO the thickness of a SMP300, could work?

Wouldn't Omega say that's way they make the SMP300?

The thickness of the current POs is driven by two factors: WR and movement thickness.
The 2500 PO was significantly slimmer and was still 600m (though thicker than contemporary SMP300s with a similar movement). Classic SeaDwellers were about the same thickness of 2500 POs and are 1200m WR,

Another factor is the current trend of having a display back. This adds some thickness, but I understand Omega wanting to show a beautiful movement and underline the fact that a magnetic shield is no longer necessary...

For the 300m WR market segment they make the SMP.

I really hope they slim down the PO A LOT. I love the looks but hate the thickness.

And why not a 39,5 with the 8900, it would be awesome.
Then that would be way out of proportion at 39.5mm wide and 16mm thick.

My wrist is just over 6”. 39.5mm PO doesn’t wear too thick, for me anyway

I'd like to see that as well. The Globemaster showcases how the caliber 8900 can fit in a smaller diameter watch, with a display caseback, and still have a modest height.

I'll always prefer a silent-rotor movement like the 8900, over the 8800.

From that angle it actually looks pretty slim

You get my drift 👍
Wondered the same thing. The 8900 is a perfect caliber, jumping hour hand et voilà, you don’t need a gmt anymore.

Late March
Do we know the actual date for this event, or even what it is called?

I searched for ‘Omega Event March 2021’, but couldn’t find anything specific.

I’m close to pulling the trigger on a 39.5 PO, and I just know as soon as I buy it, they’ll release the new improved version!

Time To Move 2021.

Media and ADs will see the event online this month but i don't know if there will be an embargo on instantly releasing the information publicly.

My AD has been informed that he will be viewing the event on the 24th.

Thinner is definitely something they need to look at, the problem really seems to be the case and the 600M WR rating, as the Calibre 8500/8900 isn’t actually that thick at 5.5mm however the new Calibre 8800 used in the Seamaster Pro 300M has almost the same power reserve (55 hours vs 60) and is thinner at 4.7mm, so if they swapped out the movement they could get nearly 1mm lower just from that. I’m wondering if we might see that 8800 replace the 8900 on a much broader basis in the range since its smaller, almost as good specs wise, simpler with a single barrel yet performs about as well.
