A new, slightly thinner, PO would be great. I had the 8500 model at 42mm and a couple of the 8900 models at 43.5mm. I ended up selling them at the time. I sold the 8500 (wish I hadn鈥檛) for the newer movement and bracelet. The 8900鈥檚 were just huge, almost a cartoon caricature on my wrist. But I kept buying them just the same...

Strangely enough I still love the PO. There is something about the style and layout of the face and hands and numerals. I鈥檝e promised myself to stop buying the same thing expecting a different experience! A sign of madness, they tell me...

So it鈥檚 either the 8800 at 39.5mm, or wait and see what the new one looks like. I just hope it鈥檚 released soon.

You are not alone 馃榾

I have both the 42mm 8500 and 39.5mm 8800 and like them both!

An orange ceramic black dial PO with the 42mm 2500 dimensions would be my choice.

I bought the 39.5 in the fall but ended up returning it. Loved lots about it but just wasn鈥檛 stable on my wrist. A slimmer version that鈥檚 more in proportion in terms of diameter/lugs/height would be ideal. The Sinn U50 gets close to that perfect wearability, IMO.

.....something nobody is mentioning here, its INERTIA. When sailing or working with tools can麓t deal with the inertia (the capacity of staying in its mood, or at rest or accelerating or moving) of this watch. Inertia is linked with weight.
There is another thread comparing the comfort of Omega vs. Rolex bracelets. I think the matter is not only the heavier bracelets, but the whole thing.

Lighter watches, matched with lighter bracelets stand a greater chance of being more comfortable.

But a lot of people firmly believe that a heavier bracelet is better/sturdier/stronger/more durable than a lighter one, and that's not necessarily true.

Bravo! Sign me up for that as well. The only things I'd add to that mix, are: (a) the counter-balance shape of the running seconds hand from the PO 2500. Plus (b) a matte dial.

Having said that though, I'm quite enjoying the current-gen PO I picked up in December. On paper, these exact nitpicks (the non-continuous serated bezel ring, the linked seconds marker counters in between the minute markers) that really put me off the watch for years when viewing images of this watch online, actually don't bother me that much in real life.

In every-day lighting conditions, I've grown to actually prefer the segmented bezel ring on the 43.5.

Ah yes, I forgot about these, especially the matte dial. +1. Omega Execs, take note

I have the 8500 42mm. Thickness is a non-issue. In fact, I always wonder what people who complain about this are actually wearing. The only time the thickness bothers me is when I wear a combination of shirt, sweater, vest and coat; too many layers, I guess.

The weight is an issue. On the bracelet, I feel it very much. On the rubber strap it is as comfortable as my Explorer. But I prefer the look of the bracelet, so I spend a few weeks sucking it up, then switching to the rubber, then back to the bracelet.

In other words: you don鈥檛 want to see the lugs of my PO. But I love it as much as the day I bought it - on the rubber bracelet, I might add. I bought the bracelet and adjustable clasp afterwards

What year did that dial/bezel come out?

With few exceptions, to me, the POs design and color pallets have since about 2001 remained very 2001

I鈥檇 like a fulsome update this year

So which version is this ? Please tell me it's at least a chronograph...

Yeah, it's a model 232.90.46.51.03.001 Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Chrono. 19.4mm thick.

I have the 39.5 mm option, and it feels pretty good on my wrist that is slightly less than 7 inches. I like it much better than the old 2500, 42 mm version.

I thought the size of the movement is not what made the watch so thick? Could be wrong, but I thought I read that on this forum in the past.

Good to see you get it wet too !
I'm not diving with my expensive watches anymore these days... This sport is very rude on gear, specially out of the water.
Nice Perdix, BTW.

This is what I've been waiting for.
I actually prefer open caseback, if they could reduce the thickness of the case.

And maybe remove the helium valve ?

No way!. Keep the HEV. That's part of the PO and Pro Diver. This should stay.

I talked to an employee at an Omega boutique recently. He (personally) said he did not foresee any refreshing of the PO line any time soon. He said the biggest change has already been made with the adding of the new master chronometer calibers along with new straps, bezel and dial colors. He feels more refreshes will roll out to other collections before coming back to the PO again. But I suppose who really knows for sure until the Swatch Group event.

And while we are at it, wider lugs without the hev 馃榿

Hev does'nt bother me, neither do changes.
Well, other than it's been there for some time and might 'belong' to the seamaster collection, it does'nt really serve a purpose.

I would just like to see something new in the PO lineup.

Can I ask what size your wrist is? How does the 39.5 size sit on your wrist?
