That sounds right. Watch anniversary and not the landing anniversary. The boutique will have the NASA guy that certified Speedmasters at the July event.

Jim Ragan - absoloutely lovely guy.

I bet Jim will love being referred to as "the NASA guy"

He's old school Texas, and deserves some serious respect and good manners.

Indeed he does hence my comment. Maybe the sarcasm emoji would have been appropriate after my comment.

Never bought in an OB before either, do they lay on the usual champagne etc when buying like an AD would?

We do a lot more than just lay out some champagne friend. It is always a wonderful experienced that is delivered.

I'm going to my first one tonight. It's a Speedmaster event in Short Hills NJ. No idea what's going to be happening, but I'm in. 😀
There is a bigger event on July 20th for the 60th Anniversary of the first moon landing. That should be off the chain!

I think the only requirement is that you wear two watches at that event. Also, don't show up wearing a rolex, and preferably wear a pair of Speedies. I had a great time and met many other Omega fans. Plenty to drink.

At the LA event they had a photo booth where you could pose with your speedy.

Here I am wearing my Ploprof and Ed White.

This guy took it up a notch.

Even acceptable to wear your speedy with dial facing your wrist

I wouldn't expect it. I've never had that happen. It was similar to buying some nice pants or something, well except I walked out with a freaking kickass timepiece. Just get yourself a nice bubbly after to celebrate if it doesn't happen.

The boutique experience sounds fantastic but I prefer to buy from trusted sellers on the OF. You still get the champagne experience albeit in the comfort of the sellers living room and you're drinking out of old school red Solo plastic cups.

Nice event in Short Hills last night. Though, they favored the bigger boutiques by giving them all the basel pieces so it was a little light on new stuff to see. Still a nice night.

I'll take a discount of 1000's of dollars from my AD over an invitation to boutique events any day.

However, I'd have paid full price on a watch from a boutique if it guaranteed me access to a Snoopy.

It's not just the boutique events - it's the big insane stuff like being flown to other countries for Space stuff, or the Olympics... there really are some amazing things that Omega lay on for it's VIPs.

As has been said many times before, it depends on you personally, as to whether you'd rather save some cash, or get a genuine money can't buy experience.

Strokes for folks.

It's either your money as the VIP, or the money of others who buy at boutiques but don't spend enough to get the benefits, that buys it. If you have the cash to indirectly buy the access through purchases at a boutique, and this is what you want to do with your money to feel special, then by all means go for it.

I have a little less than no money... so either way, I'm not getting the watches, the benefits, or buying the experiences for myself 😉

...Also, don't show up wearing...
1. Metallica t-shirt.
2. Camo cargo shorts.
3. Bad hair.
