·A fellow collector and OF member, @csburns, and I have recently developed an appreciation for Dreffas, specifically their dive watch, the “20 atmos.” We both are really enjoying these pieces. They are solidly built in all-steel cases with nicely-chamfered lugs that are reminiscent of the Rotary Aquaplunge. Earlier model-cases (late-60s/early 70s) sport a Bathyscape-style face with a mixture of round, triangular, and rectangular lumes; bold white minute-hashes; bisected, pointed batons; and a diamond-shaped sweep second. The bidirectional bezel on these also has a painted face and barrel, but a contrasting bare-metal edge.
Later models (mid-70s) are more evocative of the Tudor Ranger. These have Arabic numerals at the cardinals, straight batons, and a rectangle-tipped sweep second. The bezel is fully painted.
Both models have the same oversize 38mm case, with a large, screw-down crown. Powering the watches is the ETA 2472. This seems pretty standard across different models, including the rare GMT version.
I’d love to see what other Dreffa divers are out there, so bring them on!
