You can strangle your own Jones, buddy. Just don't buy a watch from the Ukraine. ::rimshot::

Tier 2 (absolutely) NO BUY Zones: Ukraine, South America, India
Tier 1 (unless it is an extremely desirable watch you have done your homework on) NO BUY Zones: Turkey, Thailand, Israel, Mexico (a reputable seller here and there)

I am surprised Israel is there. I've seen many nice vintage Omegas there, albeit at high price. Any bad experience before?

Frankens galore, at least as far as Zenith is concerned. Also rare pieces. Frequently the same seller has both. Same goes for Turkey.

Funny that I was about to put the same info as Lou for primary NO BUY ZONES….. except both him & I have recently scored sweet watches from South America (click here for my story). Granted, I've put up with more headaches from there to list and a forum member here has caught a South American eBay buyer/seller in a scam involving his watch and a bold faced lie so it's even a risk for veterans.

I'd add Vietnam to the absolute no buy list, particularly for vintage Constellations, unless you're a hardened Omegamaniac.

If you love this style and that dial layout, build your own. And then it won't be a fake/franken/POS and it'll be something you can be proud of as well.

Cases, dials and movements are available all over the place.

    Look around here for example.

    Good Luck with your project!

Or you can buy one complete if you don't have watch tinkerer skills

I've had some great purchases from South America but it is not for the faint of heart.

I forgot that one - agree fully.

True, but it's a minefield, and a very dense one at that.

Do you mean Carjackistan, Thievistan, and AlQaedistan? I just lump them all in with the Ukraine. ;) :whistling:
