$180?! wow. Yeah you stole it.

Think of the stories this watch could tell if it could talk!

Amazing find!!

Agree with everything said by others about keeping as much of the original parts as possible.

Don’t worry about the strap, replace it with a nice thick tan vintage style leather one, and if you ever decide to part with it, plenty of folks here (including me) or on EBay gladly will take it off your hands for much much more than you paid for it...

I’m a complete novice on Speedmasters, but I know enough to agree with the rest - don’t touch that dial!!

Just thought I would follow up with a picture of the watch. I just got it back after being serviced and I am really happy with it!

Wow! Looks amazing - congrats!!! Curious if you’d be comfortable sharing what the service, etc cost? If not, totally understand and either way, you got an INCREDIBLE deal!

What was done with the hands? new ones? re-lumed? repainted? How long did the service take?
LAWW has a Memomatic case of mine. Going on 2 months now 😒

Hands were repaired, but not replaced. They did have to do new pushers and a new crown though. It took about 6 months I think.

Very nice. I would be more than happy to just have that serviced, repair any defective parts and wear it more or less as it is. I would keep the hands, dial and pusher as there's nothing defective about them. The watch has that look of an honest, original piece that's seen good service without being actually worn out and I would keep it that way. And what an absolutely amazing purchase - hardly a gamble! It's the sort of luck I need if I'm ever going to own a Speedmaster
I second this, sound advise.

Looks great, I imagine the repairs were quite costly but looks totally worth it!
