For the price though I am willing to take a chance. Even if I have to have the dial refinished or spend my time looking for another dial it would be worth it to me.
Recent acquisition. Early 60s Thin-o-matic T-503 with what I believe is the original stretch band. Micro-rotor movement that I’ll probably have to have serviced as it is running a bit fast.
On the left is my Hamilton Field Mechanical, bought last December and on my wrist 24/7 since then. It started out running +20 sec/day, but is now at 0.0! In this photo it’s wearing a Haveston “1918” canvas strap. I have parked my trusty 2010 Omega Seamaster PO 2500 (see avatar) for awhile. On the right is my beloved 1970-ish Hamilton 19001-3, a gift from my parents when I was in junior high school. It’s still wearing the late-70’s Speidel Twist-o-Flex I got in college. Somehow, it’s all still in perfect condition. I’m really jonesing for a “basic” hesalite Speedmaster Pro Moonwatch. Researching Speedmasters brought me to this forum. Maybe for my birthday in March...
Another recent purchase Early 60s Tuxedo II - Solid 14k white gold case with 44 diamonds on the bezel. It was the most expensive model in 1962 with an original list price of $450, which I think is roughly what an 18k Constellation cost in the early 60s.
I just picked up what I think is a 50s vistange Hamilton tank. I'll post some photos when I get home.
Here it is the "new to me" Hamilton. If anyone can identify it by sight, I'd love to hear. Sorry, I haven't opened the back yet.
Take a look through the original catalogues: http://vintagewatchforums.com/viewforum.php?f=21&sid=1392a096d1c3914c19d8aba02f0ab1ed&start=25 It more likely dates back to the 40s. Looks similar to the Boulton.
It is a Dexter from around 1950. Notice how the lugs have a slight notch where they join the bezel. The Boulton doesn't have this. The dial has been incorrectly refinished, but that is easily corrected.
Those catalogues are a great reference Vanallard. Thank you. As for the dial coronado, are you referring to that funny looking 8? I wasn't sure about the crown either.
The sub-seconds chapter and the Hamilton name were incorrectly printed when the dial was refinished. It appears the refinisher didn't have the correct print for the Dexter model. The "8" is correct for the watch. Crown is likely correct. Here is a better image of a correct dial:
I've had this 14K white Ventura for over a year. When I found it, it had a dreadful dial with some scratches and dark spots. I recently had the dial restored and I serviced the 505 movement, and put it all back together a few days ago.
