No, I don't think it's big awkward. I have a small wrist 6.5". The wider part of the lugs sits on the wider part of my wrist (towards forearm). And I happen to wear watches slightly higher. So it actually works out for me.
I love Hamilton! I bought the Hamilton Pioneer Khaki Field. A few years back (now discontinued). I love their history of how they started in Lancaster, PA. I'm a Philly boy.
That is gorgeous. At the other end of the spectrum is this vintage VIP from 1964 that my wife found on the weekend in a charity shop. She asked me to clean it up a bit but not to take the back off as she only paid peanuts for it. So a bit reluctantly I gave it a quick once over, then set the time to see how it was running. A day and a half later it had lost only four seconds - wow! I must say I was impressed. Having seen some of the really nice Hamiltons in this post I might have to open my allegiance beyond my beloved Omegas.
I've found that a large diameter case works fine on a small wrist if the case back is flat and the lugs are turned down.
I’ve recently started looking at the khaki field manual and really considering purchasing. I’m leaning more towards the white dial rather than black but noted there are versions with brown and olive dials. Anyone had any experience with these?
I purchased it new last year, but it might have been on display for a year or two. This has the 50 hour power reserve but I think that the current models have 80 hours. It seems to me that different countries get different choices on dial, date/no date and so on. It's so hard to get serious information from manufacturer or shop websites BTW the NATO strap is an aftermarket one, not from Hamilton. The olive colour of the dial is pretty dark so the whole appearance is rather utilitarian, which suits me fine.
Great looking watch! I've been eyeing the Oris Chronoris Movember edition. Shape is very similar. I like the retro vibe.
