I just look at it as being respectful to people you respect beliefs.
I appreciate that mentality a ton, and I'm sure your coworker does, too.
Thanks for the photos. Those look great. I'm leaning towards Coloreb, too. I think I may try one of the wood straps for my 18mm.

Here, by the way, is one of the two animal-free straps I got from Zuludiver. Most of their products seem to be vegan, but mostly made for divers. I think it looks decent on my Eterna, though. It's made from recycled sea plastic, which is cool and sad at the same time. The lining is made of apple skins. I also bought a canvas strap that I haven't put on anything yet.

Following up on this to add a few photos of other options I've found. First, the other from Zuludiver which is great for the beater. It's very comfortable, but almost too long for my small wrist.

But the real reason for the update is this nice cork strap from Martú. It took nearly 2 months to be made and shipped from Chile, but I think it was worth the wait and the reasonable price. It seems to be well-made. I like that it doesn't have faux leather backing like most other cork straps I found. I think the natural color will have to grow on me some, but if it doesn't, I might try coloring it myself at some point. Plus, I got so impatient waiting for it that I ordered another one in black.

I saw straps made of vegan apple leather once but finding it again has proven difficult. Give me some time and better searching and I'll find it.

Updated: this isn't the one I recall previously but similar. The other company was full of very colorful options but this gives you another idea.

I actually just got one of the straps made from Apple leather and it’s fantastic! Pictures below, love this combo! I got it from here, although now it looks like they’re not in stock, but the update regularly:

Why do you want Vegan fake leather straps?

lots of reasons, depending. Personally, I’m vegan, so I don’t wear leather, but I know others who just prefer the look/feel, others find that find they wear better overtime/hold up better to water, etc. Different strokes.

I think the same is available on Ebay:

They seem similar to the Wine leather which I am tempted by, but have not yet purchased:

Has anyone had luck finding durable vegan watch straps other than NATO straps or bracelets? I'd like to find an alternative to leather, but fake leather products can vary significantly in quality. Nordgreen and Hurtig Lane are the nicest looking ones I've come across so far, but pictures only tell you so much. I also like the look of some dark cork straps, but it's hard to find good-looking ones without leather backing.

Any other options you've had good experiences with? Bonus points for straps that come in smaller sizes for my 16mm and 18mm vintage watches!
I have tried Hurtig Lane and think their quality is good, they now have cactus leather straps too only in black and green, pretty sure they have 16mm but not sure about 18mm. They sent out an email recently I think saying more sizes and plant leathers coming soon. https://uk.hurtiglane.com/collections/cactus-leather-watch-straps

Have to admit I have never heard of cactus leather so that’s a new one to me. They look pretty good and very leather-like for something entirely plant based.

How many polyvinyls and polyesters have to die cruel needless deaths just so people can have vegan watchstraps??? ::stirthepot:: 😁

And I am glad you don't have to feed your Cactus watch strap too much water as well

"1. Eco-Friendly Production: Cactus Leather is derived from the resilient Nopal cactus, a plant that thrives in arid conditions and requires minimal water."

But they might make excellent dive straps if they can tolerate salt water !

I looked up the wiki, but it redirects to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_leather

Denim makes nice straps, although the lining on this one looks like leather.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyvek Was used disastrously in the 1970s pipe organ industry. It failed horribly causing the demise of a lot of smaller organ builders who were already on life support. Seems there are different formulas for it. Does not remain gas tight with repeated flexing.

Did you know why Argentina has so many cows? It is because of the Zeppelins. The cow intestine leather is called Zephyr leather and one of the few what can hold hydrogen. Since each cow makes about 1 sq foot or so, the gas bags required a million cows. There was a need for a large open place to put them.

The brits though wound up eating the beef. (Until mad cow disease and they went to war with Argentina over some islands off the coast.)
