Well that's a tremendous coincidence. We're planning a trip to meet a fellow forum member in Bristol next week and at the same time I want watch pictures and don't want to post so will be very interested in your experience at these people.

Sorry @davidswiss still waiting for my watch to arrive so haven’t been in yet. Not sure when you’re visiting but I hope to get in early this week.

Another vote for WatchGuy here. I’ve had a watch serviced there and will shortly have another done. Their unique cataloguing service really stands out; it’s fantastic to have photos of your watch and movement apart, but also the ability to compare it to others.

They were very friendly and knowledgable. They opened both my watches, took pictures with my phone under their bright light, advised on condition just to be friendly. I booked both in for a service - 5 month wait time, i have no frame of reference for whether that’s a long time. Anyway i wouldn’t hesitate to go in!

Edit: fyi that’s Horological Underground in central Bristol, UK.

I second that vote for Horological Underground in central Bristol, UK. Went in today just to have the back off for photos. They did it, took the pictures for me, better than I could and replaced a missing gasket. Very impressed.

Thanks to this forum I now own my first vintage Omega 😀 but all of my local “watchmakers” are really battery changes.

I have found one on the Internet that is mentioned in the forums and also sale adverts. Their website seems to have a lot of work but it seems one mans hero is another mans villain.

Would anyone be willing to point me in the direction of someone they use in the UK? I have a 1940’s Longines I would like serviced but it belonged to my father in law so for sentimental reasons would like it cared for. Thanks all.

Oxford Clock and Watch repair.

Neville is based just outside Oxford. He serviced my Certina DS recently for £75. No postal service but watches can be dropped off at his premises.
