I found this fairly simple Omega at an antique store for five bucks the other day! I was wondering if anyone could help me with a model type...era...or any random information on it...

Thanks!

That looks like a late 60's or early 70's Genève Dynamic reference 166.0039. They usually came with an automatic caliber 565 inside, but the word AUTOMATIC would be under OMEGA nearly all the time. This leads me to believe you have a manual wind series 600 under the hood. Later models with automatics (post 1972) used the 101x series calibers - not as good as the 56x series but still decent. If you paid $5 for that you could get a tidy profit - they sell for $200 to $500 depending on condition and whether or not they've been serviced (which your obviously hasn't been recently). Nice find!

Looks in decent shape, as does the strap. If I recall correctly there was some weird interchange method with those where the head slips out of the middle of the strap (like the strap is one piece), and then you could mount a stainless steel bracelet in a similar way. Very unusual but I really like them.

It's a cool watch and it's an Omega, so you've done well for $5 but it's not a collector grade piece and it's not in collector grade condition. Your target buyer would be wanting it as a project watch, or as a cheap entry point into Omega, so watch sites are not the best method. Put it on eBay and you will get about market value for an as-is piece. Start the bidding at $1 no reserve, and let the bidding take whatever direction it will take.

In most cases eBay is a terrible place to sell an Omega but this is the exception, just photograph it well, be honest in your condition statement and watch it sell.

Did you end up selling the watch? If so, what did you get?
