There is a seller in my neck of the woods, whose Piepan Connie has proven a great learning experience. I might make an offer there and have noticed another interesting Piepan, Steel Case Ref 2852 Cal 501, that he has, pics below, for which he wants USD $1700. The previous one seemed to have a consensus of 'a bit on the high side', for what seems an average dial.

    The ad claims:

"Fully original and untouched dial and case. ... Crystal and crown have been replaced by NOS Omega OEM genuine period and model correct parts."

To my still-a-lot-to learn eye, this Piepan dial appears in much better condition. I like this model, and I would be happy with it as my first purchase. The question: is it worth USD $1700?

Looks like a fairly decent 2852 cal 501/505 with a half waffle dial. Could be a winner but I'd want better pictures of the dial and movement before making a move.

It's definitely a nice variant of the dial to own. Better pictures would be helpful. Especially the movement as a lot of these 50X movements have suffered in their lifetime.

I just would give the crown another look over by the experts here. It seems a bit thick, no? The logo looks like the one from the 70's but that I have no expertise on this... I just know that a lot of fakes are out there.

Here is my 2582 for comparison:

Didn't mean to distract too much with my watch.

Is the crown correct on OP watch?

+1...looks like something scraped against the dial which is why some areas appear shiny.

Those pics make out Look ragged, get better ones and maybe it will look different? Besides a dirty dial I don't see anything wrong with it.
