Do people really flip watches in this price range? I can't imagine that it will resell for over $60k.

I imagine that ever limited edition gets flipped, or an attempt at it. Especially with such low production numbers.

I'm sure there will be at least one sucker, I mean buyer, who feels the fact that it's limited to 15 justifies the extra cost.

Looks like there's room at the bottom of the market for me to set up a co-branded Time 4A Pint watch... I'm thinking Casio f91W clone... you guys are all in right? 😉

Nah, more like this 😉 Now that's class!

Give Timex a call. They might do a short run dial for you! I dig it!

Actually this was from Zazzle.com. I looked for one with a proper pint glass and then set to customizing:

https://www.zazzle.com/beer_design_wrist_watch-256931357382159898

I think they will do them for $50 each, which is only overpriced by $40 or so. Just click on the "Designed for you" on the upper right and you too can make your own design 😉

There are many elegant watches of high quality out there that are not "blinged out" in order to reach this sort of price level. There are even some independents who are doing very good things that can be bought at the $60k level. If you are only seeing blinged out Rolex/AP at this price point, you should really start looking around a bit more at what's out there.
First of all, I'm far away from the 60k price point, so I don't care that much for this specific market. Secondly, I wrote "almost" in bold to avoid remarks. It failed.
Of course there are great pieces around 60k, having handled quite a bit of Patek complications/grand complications (you're getting in 3970J territory) i have an idea of what can be had for the money. All I'm saying is that I feel like, of the people that spend 60k on a watch, most of them are going to be very rich and with no clue (getting blinged pieces mostly, or the occasional ALS/PP).

wow. 60K. after a price point is there a limit? i mean if they priced this at 100k it would still sell. people that buy this staff probably dont really care. its not like i will start saving for when that 60k limited edition appears.

I think that if you're in the market for a watch at that price point, see this, like it, want to own it... why not?

The aesthetic doesn't appeal to me, so even if I had the money, I wouldn't be buying one (whether it had Hodinkee anywhere on it or not), but this doesn't feel like a "jumping the shark" moment.

All of us run the risk of projecting our own thoughts/values/budgets onto every other person out there, but the reality is that everyone has different tastes, and different budgets.

Well said Chris

Good luck to whoever buys and enjoys any watch, be it $6 or $6million.

If you had said "most of the watches I see people buy at this price point are blinged out", which it seems is what you meant to say, instead of "most of the watches you can get in that price range are blinged out" then I would not have commented...

Cheers, Al

My guess is that these all went to hedge fund managers looking for a mid term profit #taxfreeassets

stunning...but these guys are turning into the goop of watch blogs.

Not a fan of them certainly, but even I would not say they are at goop level yet - I can see what you are getting at with the high end nature of things, but on goop the "wellness" products peddled on there are often no more than snake oil, and some of what is sold on there is actually dangerous...

The Hodinkee badge aside, the aesthetic definitely doesn't work for me on this one. The minute hand feels out of place somehow (too long? too narrow? not a pleasant contrast with the hour hand).
