This watch was up for sale on Hodinkee some time ago.

(Picture borrowed from Hodinkee for reference).

"1950s Lemania Chronograph With Original Hang Tags":

From first observation a cool watch, and with some interesting hang-tags added.

My concern is the dial.

1) It looks freshly printed (always a concern for a 70+ year old watch for sale).

2) The print is VERY thick at points. Compare numbers on the minute track and sub dials to my example below.

3) The circular pattern on the sub-dials seems to be "missing". This would happen during a dial restoration.

I have a watch, with the exact same case, and obviously as a result, is from the same period.
Mine has a different dial layout, and has a 3-register version of the CH27 movement, but this is not important for my concern.
If one compares the numerals and print, I am 90+ % certain that this dial is not NOS, but newly printed?

(My watch and picture. Currently undergoing service)

It would be very interesting to hear what others think about this?
If consensus is redial I think Hodinkee needs to be notified.

Cheers!

Hodinkee sold it. Hodinkee needs Money for the overheads. There was never explicitly stated: "..... 100% untouched and original to this watch, Dial ...."

FTR that watch sold long ago—Hodinkee hasn't sold vintage for 2 years.

Pretty sure the dial's just fine—when enlarged on hodinkee, nothing's amiss to my eyes. I'd be stunned if it were a redial.

Stange it came up on my Google search now... Perhaps they re-arranged their web-archive or something.
I was just too fascinated by the dial and condition (and possible lack thereof) to notice it sold long ago.....

I am very close to certain it is a redial.
Especially the sub-dials lack of structure, and details like the 25-minute marker on the minute track almost smeared out to the inner ring looks very suspicios.

There are also other inconsistencies like:

1) The alignment of the word "Telemeter".
2) The print of the subdial numbers being "thick"/bold compared to contemporary versions.
3) The 6 (in 60 on left subdial) does not seem correct as Lemania seems to consequently have been using "coat-hanger" style 6 numeral.

It does fail the 55 test IMHO
