Hello everyone
After spending a fair bit of time looking through the forum (great resource) I’m reaching out for help on this variant of Pie Pan. It has been in the safe for many, many years and I assume it was purchased new in 1971 according to guarantee.

27583701 - appears on various paperwork

Any info much appreciated

Welcome aboard!
Since you’ve spent a fair bit of time reading, you might have noticed people here appreciate a bit of background (are you buyer, seller, heir?) and what your own research has shown. What info are you looking for that you couldn’t find yourself?

You know. Don’t use this space as a more comfortable alternative to google, tell us about your intentions and you should get a few helpful replies soon.

Thanks for the pointers MtV.
I suppose I have inherited the watch and potentially looking to move it on. I know it’s a gents watch, steel with gold plate, date window ‘166’XXX

I don’t know about the calibre and I’m not in the business of opening the case after 30 odd years probably many more actually . The watch runs well and appears to keep time. I have a service card from omega dated 1985 and sale paperwork dated 1971 .. so have a few pieces of the puzzle.
I note my crown variant is not hexagonal…

Also welcome @Boyley
There are a few questions your watch raises, complicated by the info you’ve given.

Eg.
What do you mean by ‘166XX’ ?
Likewise the 27… number.

Your watch originated around a decade earlier than the ‘71 sales receipt you have.

It’s a gold cap 14393, and it should be sporting a cal561 movt.

In focus pics of the dial with hands away from the text will help us assess the dial.

Thanks Peemacgee
These are the numbers on the jeweller guarantee from renowned Preston’s in Lancashire (UK)
I suppose it is entirely possible the watch was preowned at that time (1971) - I don’t have bill of sale
Will take a dial picture when the light improves

Those papers are for another unrelated watch. An Omega dynamic in fact.

Good you posted that.
That sticker has nothing to do with your watch.
Which is doubly good because the 27,xxx movt serial would mean it had been replaced.

Makes perfect sense now - this is the other Omega I have. Looks like I have a Pie Pan with no papers then !

Ah, that helps. Well, take the information of @Peemacgee s post, ask someone with a modern phone to take good pictures of the watch from all angles (make sure to do that in natural daylight), and then you‘ll have all you need to put it on eBay. Should bring something like 1000£, maybe slightly more.

I agree with @MtV but it might bring a little more if the dial proves to be good.

Just to complete the info,
The watch dates from approx ‘59-62.
I believe that the BOR is a later addition ( not sure when 555 endings were introduced but they are not contemporaneous to the watch)
The box is also a later addition.
The crown is a replacement and I’m not sure it is a correct replacement but it won’t affect the value too much.
Just make sure you describe the case as gold-capped not plated - there’s a big difference.

Best of luck if you sell.

Many thanks indeed for your help. I think a sale is more likely given what you have said
