Angelus Chronodato Calibre 217 Restoration Advice

I have 3 Angelus Chronodato’s in my collection (don’t ask me why, I just like them!) and one of them is a bit of an eyesore which I bought intending to restore. Anyway, years passed and I never got round to it and finally listed it on eBay. Then as people started making me offers, I suddenly realised something.. I don’t think I want to sell it after all! The dial looks like it can be cleaned up pretty easily since a large amount of the brown colour is grime I think. The case is the sought after 38mm steel with welded lugs. Hands are the best looking heat blue batons, and it’s running perfectly.. in short, it has potential. But it’s missing the 45 minute counter hand, which is painfully difficult to find a replacement for. So my questions to those with watch restoration and watchmaking skills:

1/ Would I be able to get a generic blue steel subdial hand (leaf shape) and have the correct size tube installed, and the hand clipped down to size if necessary? And could this be done for a reasonable fee?

2/ How difficult would it be to clean up the dial? I don’t want a refinish and don’t want to affect the printing and I want to keep patina, but I want to get the brown grime off. I was thinking of maybe using some cleaning fluid on a cotton swab - bad idea?

Well well well….

I went rooting through my collection of rare parts and found a Tupperware box I had totally forgotten about.. In it, a decent condition original silver Angelus Chronodato dial, a totally mint condition New Old Stock full set of blue steel hands for this watch and a new old stock domed plexiglass! I have all of the components to build up a really nice watch! I am beyond pleased!

Now I just need a decent watchmaker in the UK who is confident to put this thing together and service the movement 😎
