I have a few days off after Christmas and figured I’d clean out and revamp the garage with some new cabinets and storage, which seemed like a fun idea until I realized how much junk had to be thrown out first. I’m expecting this NewAge cabinet set and a couple Husky workbenches to be delivered next Monday.

Lovely table. We recently custom ordered a custom Amish made table in quarter-sawn white oak. It wasn't much more than a descent mass produced imported table.

It wasn’t today but it is what’s been keeping my interest pulled from watches lately as I’m working towards being the most informed caretaker I can be. I’ll share more of the story in the automotive exceptionalism thread, but for now, I’m just happy, as well as grateful, to say that after years of searching and persistence I was able to bring this back to my family.

Getting a new recurve built. It's been 5+ years since I've shot consistently, but my kid is finally old enough to hit the range with me.

Going to need something to pull the boat (that I haven't bought yet).

I recognize those green clips! Aligning the limbs/string with the lateral adjustment at the limb pockets. Pretty sure the system has changed since my old Avalon plus…

I ended up teaching a ton of noobs how to do this properly over the years.

Having left the sport in the early 80’s, when I came back in the late 90’s this sort of adjustment was amazing to me. So much had changed in less than 15 years…carbon foam limbs, aluminum/carbon arrows, etc.

Yeah, the materials have changed a lot, but all the underlying concepts are the same. A lot of my components (plunger, stabilizers, sight, etc) are 20+ years old and there doesn't seem to be any compelling reason to upgrade them.

Risers and limbs have advanced a lot though. My limbs are some sort of high tech carbon that strongly resists torsion, so it's much more forgiving to forces that would twist older limbs.

Here is rigged out.

And, I didn't do too terribly for my first groupings in 6+ years.

Bought this last night at auction and picked up today, what an amazing bit of kit Tamron SP 200-500 AO8 lens in mint condition, blown away with what it can do.
Just took some shots of an led street lamp with a broken glass cover about 20 plus meters high and 30 meters away from the pole and can read with perfect legibility the 1mm and sub 1mm text written on the electronic transformer that powers the light, this against a very bright semi clouded sky with the internals in shadow. I am gob smacked by that. Will be great for planes and birds and Motorsport, absolutely stoked!

Our 22 year old Hot Springs Spa/Hot tub finally met its end, a leak of about 40 gal per day made it a hassle to keep it going. I probably could have had it repaired for a couple of thousand bucks, but decided to go with a new model, a little smaller with three seats but great massage jets. The old one cost a buck a day over its life (excl chemicals), but it was a lot of fun in the evening, especially in the winter. Flicked my two year old Speedmaster Sedna/Steel to pay for it, with a few thousand bucks left over. All good.
