Sold my Ed White and bought this 1966 FLH first year of the shovelheads. She's pretty near original.

Well, no new cars for me right now, but a Mobius action cam to act as my rear car cam and my scooter cam (probably on the side of my helmet).

And now fitted to the beast.

A Scotsman's dream, never spent a penny as I found it in a field when I was out walking with the boys today.
As yet a bit of an unknown, badge of some sort measuring 31mm in diameter and has obviously been coated in a gold coloured material in the past. Script reads "Long live the King"
Obviously if any of our learned members have any ideas as to the history of this piece it would be greatly appreciated.

I think I found it. Struck in 1789 in several places and slightly different styles on the recovery King George III from porphyria, as his disease was then called.

Proving yet again what a wonderful forum this is 🥰
That's a very nice artifact. Did you have a metal detector or did you just stumble upon it?

No metal detector, the fields are littered with pieces of broken crockery, glass, pieces of clay pipes etc. and I tend to keep my eyes open for the elusive crock of gold but on that day this piece was lying right in the centre of the combine harvesters tyre tracks.
I was told many years ago by a local worthy that way back the waste from the stables in Edinburgh plus household middens https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midden was transported by canal out to the farms in our area to be used as fertiliser and amongst all of this waste was many pieces of other waste which would obviously explain all the usual bits and pieces but why would this piece end up here ?

Some other recent bits and pieces -

This appears to be a coin, i'll try a little GENTLE cleaning and see if anything appears ?
