Didn't buy it, made it. Never ever will I do something like this again. Old wood was cupped and needed planed down. New wood was thick and needed planed down. Lots and lots of cuts. the only good thing about it was it raised my skill level from a 3 to a 5.

I know that feeling...
If that is new construction, that's cheating. 60 year old house where the room used to be a garage. Nothing square or level although level was not much of a concern. How did you do that without getting dizzy? Still, all in all, very nice.

Just ordered a GQ GMC-500 radiation detector, I am very curious to test the radium on some of my vintages!

Here's a thing for you denim aficionados, just arrived my new pair of Hiut Selvedge jeans.
I've been hankering for a pair for ages, and luckily got a voucher for the recent b day.
If you know Howies, then you may be aware of Hiut, great quality, super service , and free lifetime repairs.

A Faber Castell instument for measurements but I do not know where you can use it
Maybe it is for civil engineers.

That's a slide rule isn't it? For doing calculations not making measurements. From before we all had digital calculators. I think I still remember how to use it although it's been a long time.

Yes a slide rule for doing arithmetic calculations. I was a radar engineer back in the 602, 70s and used one daily. I remember being blown away when one of our American engineers came back from a trip home and brought a digital calc in to work. It was made by HP and cost a couple of thousand dollars.
Here's mine from those days with a few scale rules aussie-emoticon1%20copy.gif

I was just at the end of the slide rule days - went to university in the mid-1970s. We were taught to do arithmetic in the tradional way using our heads and log tables, and by the time anything more difficult was needed digital calculators came along. What radar systems did you work on?

Haha nice story of yours with the digital calculator.
I recently heard a story from a guy when he first saw a very large airplane with some of his friends
they did not believe that that airplane could get off the ground and he said : we waited for it to start 12 hours
but it didn't so we got bored and left.
I was laughing so hard with this story and with the way he was saying it.
