Hi all!
I’ve been offered this voit skin diver. It’s condition is outstanding and I really love the design (lacquered dial, bezel, big logo…)
Do some of you here own a similar one? Any idea how many were made? I know it’s quite rare but I find so few examples in past sales that it’s hard to objectively value it. The seller is asking 2k€ which doesn’t seem unreasonable…What do you think? 😀

thanks!

I have no idea on pricing, but these are so cool and difficult to find! This one looks to be in great condition too!

Here’s a chronograph version:

I used to have a Voit ABA basketball as a kid.

I don’t think it’s worth €2,000 simply based on a recognizable brand name. I don’t know enough about diver’s watches in general to say it’s worth the price based on its features.

PS - Found a catalog entry while looking this up:

If you like it buy it. A few times I have over paid but in vintage collecting you keep it long enough it doubles in price. That is rare I only seen a few on the forms. You buy it put a tropic strap on it that one on it got to go. It does have the cool factor and that what makes me buy vintage divers most of the time.

It’s a 38mm 😀

i only found one other that was sold here last year, the IMO less « sexy » version without the logo and the special bezel :
https://omegaforums.net/attachments/d05312a3-7b32-4c1f-8046-a9e32bdd857b-jpeg.955586/

there is a similar one for sale at 4200$ 😲 :

And one here for 4500$ :
https://wannabuyawatch.com/product/voit-oversize-divers-model-circa-1970/

But those asked prices don’t mean much if they don’t sell!

And while looking for infos, I found what I was looking for! I remembered seeing one on eBay about a year ago, here it is! Sold for 2500€!

What I find really interesting is that those seem to have all very well aged! All the examples I see seem to be in very good condition with a dial still very glossy and no paint/lume loss!

Sounds rightly priced to me. I would try to get the movement shot when buying a vintage.

38 mm without crown ? I've known them as Aqua Lung ( sold by the scuba gear company and had 2 of these in the 1990's ) and Orator with the red print. Search for : HappyShinyObjects. They sold them for US$2100 and might have some left ...

thanks, They indeed had a diver like this one in their collection but it sold. The other ones are less nice IMO

édit : I really like many things in their inventory though!

We, I went to see it…and litterally fell in love with it!
It’s condition is absolutely mint, the dial is full glossy, the lume has patinated to match the golden logo, the crown and numbers on the bezel are golden too!
It might just be a skin diver, but I don’t see how one could be nicer than that! 😁

No-name skin diver, not worth more than $1k to me since there are plenty of similar models with glossy black dials, the same utilitarian case, and more interesting hands. Just because a particular brand name is uncommon doesn't necessarily make it desirable. But if you love it, you have to pay the asking price.

DIBS!

I have several French made skin divers: LeJour, BAC, LeForbain, Chanor and none have as sexy dial and hands as this.

Voit, Orator and Schild follow a very similar design language. These are quite rare (I believe they debuted in the early 60’s) and many dealers are asking $2000-3000 for them; with your model commanding the higher end of that spectrum.

I was offered this Schild for $1100, for reference.
