Speedsters aren't for me
I'm with the OP as well with regards to classic moonwatch. Though I certainly appreciate its history and even its aesthetic, I don't love it.

I do love my DSOM as well as most of the 9300-based dials, but I think simpler and cleaner sings most to me- I am loving my new Ti planet ocean.

Really like the blue strap. Love the watch.

@ulackfocus definitely hates Speedmasters

Hey now, 'hate' might be too strong of a word. I don't like them on my wrist, but I do appreciate the history and space connection.

Until recently, I also thought the Speedmaster is not for me. I have no use for the chronograph function either. So, why did I buy one? I was in the market for a hand-wound watch that comes with a case of about 40mm size and has a movement that fits the case size. It turned out, there is not much choice. Most hand-wound calibers were developed years ago when watches were 34mm. I am a big guy and cannot wear such small watches. While manufacturers like Jaeger LeCoultre put their hand-wound calibers (849) in cases of modern size, the mismatch between the diameter of the watch and the one of the movement is too obvious in my opinion. So I went to have a look at the Omega Tresor, which is one of the few watches that meets all my requirements. I liked it but on the same occasion I discovered the Speedy FOIS that appears somewhat more elegant than the standard Speedy. I found it much more interesting on the wrist than the Tresor and bought it. It's exactly what I wanted: a hand-wound watch with a case of about 40mm size and a movement that fits the case size.

I understand your feelings. I bought a 3592.50 a few months back and although I do not wear it much, it is slowly becoming one of my favorite watches. I have a few other brands but my speedy feels so comfortable when I wear it.

I didn't think I liked the Speedmasters or the Seamasters either....I liked the clean look of the Devilles and that is what I had planned on getting...until my mom made a mention that my dad liked James Bond and always wanted his gadgets....(my dad passed away) and the next day I saw this Seamasters and on a whim, I bought it....

it wasn't what I thought I liked but now I pretty much don't take it off....it's a tribute to my dad so you never know...the heart wants what the heart wants...you may fall in love with a Speedy some day.... 😀

Oyster - its a colour kind of a pearl \ off-white

That would be Mother Of Pearl, or commonly known as MOP on forums...

Edit to add - did a quick search of white MOP dials on the Omega Extranet, and they make a lot of watches with white MOP (I didn't bother looking for coloured MOP, which they also make). Some of these MOP dials are for Speedmasters, but not Pro models. Usually for 3301, 3303, or 3313 based automatic models.

Note that an MOP dial can add a lot to the cost of the watch...some of these dials are $20k plus.

Well for a long time I've felt like a trespasser here, I too struggle with the Speedmaster, it just looks too fussy on the wrist and I find it hard to read. Having said that I do like the look of the DSOM and the co-Axial, so one day who knows?

At first the Speedmaster did nothing for me. Then one day it all just clicked and I actually loved it. That appreciation only increased after I bought my first one. But I had a similar experience with dive watches. For many years I had zero interest in them. I really only liked dressier designs. Then one day I was looking at a Stowa Seatime and suddenly just really really liked it. Not other dive watches mind you. I still didn't like Submariners or Seikos or Seamasters. But after owning the Stowa I became really entranced with them and now they dominate my collection.

Go figure.

Well im glad im not alone in this discussion.... 😀
For me the decision for my new watch was between a Breitling Transocean Chronograph and the PO GMT.

Both worked for me; But in the end Omegas Co-Axial movement and the GMT swung it as I have no significant use for a chrono + the layout was clear, symmetric modern and very wear-able.

But from all these replies it clear there are hundreds of varieties of Speedmaster out there.
Personally id say the design has run its course. Omega has the DSOM and GSOM all very nice lovely movement ceramic case etc etc but it just feels to me as if the original design is being milked somewhat.

Now the titanium digital chronograph SpeedMaster (spacemaster) that's breaking some new design ground

But that's just me I guess....
