Am I the only one that's not into chronograph?

Chronos I find tend to get more attention from non-watch people. I also just like being able to time all sorts of things.

Smaller chronographs ard quite charming, particularly if your eyes can quickly check the tiny numerals on the subdials of this:

One thing about chronos though is that they will hit your hip pocket harder for servicing, usually by a factor of 2-6x (depending on complications) the cost of a manual three hander, so be prepared to spend up to get them running again if purchased in a questionable state.

Guess the car fanatics easily recognise brand and model?

Sure wish we got the top photo in the USA....
Even better if we got the Avant version as well!
One can dream...
Maybe Audi of America will get their shit together one day and bring us the good good.
Oh you guys want an RS? well here is an RS3...but you only get the sedan.
What's that? An RS4 you say? Well, how about an A/S5 Sport Back?!
It is just like the A/S/RS7 you already hate...but smaller!
🤬::facepalm1::🤬
At least they gave us the RS5 back....I guess?

Chronos are what got me into this endless worm hole. However, now I try not to keep too many of them as vintage Chronos are really fragile and the service costs are crazy!

I was there too.
Only had three handers, some without date. And some day the Chrono buck bit me. In the past chronos always bugged me with their „cluttered“ dials. But I recognize now that most of them are a thing of symmetrical beauty when done right.

@ulackfocus how About sub seconds no date?!
I find that to be one of the outmost beautiful solutions. I had the chance to hold and try out a Platin Patek 5169P-001. That thing is pure perfection for me. And will remain a dream probably at an asking price way out of my league.

On the speed topic, living in Germany definitely changes ones perception of speed. 120 mph is normal travel speed here when you are on a derestricted part of the Autobahn.
Fastest I personally got up to was 180mph in an opened up Audi TTRS. A blast to drive.

Cheers,

Max
I don’t like sub dials either. I guess that explains why 3 sub dials is not my type.

OP should love this watch then:

I love clean chronographs.
Heuer Carrera 2447 or Zenith Elite Chronograph Classic or Newman have perfect dials.

On speed topic: try doing 300 km/h on Yamaha R1 or 280 km/h on old Volvo S40 (tuned to 440hp).
Of course, running that fast on a motorcycle is physically demanding and scares the crap out.
Car feels nervous but you can still manage it with one hand.
I do love a simple dial with just a central second hand.

This topic seems to shift from Chronograph into Speedmaster (makes sense) into speed. I have been exposed to speed a lot, on two wheels, 4 wheels, on road and on track. Here's two shots I have on hand taken some public road action. Both taken in Germany during regular hours in non-restricted zones. Cannot reveal who took the pictures though... 😎

Wearing a chrono is like wearing a dash board on the wrist. Kinda weird to me.

Isn’t more better? The more a watch has going on, buttons and stuff, the more expensive it is, or better yet, it looks?

Ok I admit it - I thought that some decade.5 back. Not sure if I used the Chrono feature in my PO more than a couple times in 8 years or so. Now I seek simpler dialed watches.

Less is more for sure!

One cannot lump all chronographs into one word

For some reason I just can't get into chronograph watches. None of them really interests me. I have no desire to own one either. Am I the only one here?
Yep lol

People have different tastes, so I'm guessing that will be reflected in the responses. Personally I don't tend to eliminate entire types of watches from my interests - I may like one chronograph and hate another for example. The same may apply to tiny gold dress watches - some I may like and some I may not.

Personal taste is personal - nothing new here really...

Cheers, Al

Disliking all chronos is "kinda weird to me" but again it's your own special personal taste...

For me, it depends on my mood. My all time fav piece in my collection is a chrono, but there are times that I want a cleaner dial on my wrist.

I’ll get it back on track.

I think Bono may “dislike” a chrono.
