Why yes.... yes I am.

Invictas are great for skeet shooting targets. They are pretty good ammunition for a heavy duty sling shot also. You could put them in the center of a snowball and really f-up somebody you hate by hitting them in the head.

However, don't buy one with the intent of actually using it as a watch!

....unless you want to be the laughing stock of watch forums and maybe your neighborhood.

Invictas are trash and no self respecting WIS would be caught dead wearing one. Renato is in the same league.... bush league, that is.

No kidding! This is the lowest of the low. Invictas are lower than whale shit. For the same money you can get a half decent real watch from Seiko or Citizen, or maybe even a fairly cool Luminox. Hell, I'd sooner wear a battery powered assault on horology (i.e. a quartz wrist thingy that's got a computer chip programmed to tell time) than an Invicta or any schlock like them or Renato.

馃槙 馃え That's like saying "If I didn't own an Audi, I'd probably have purchased a '75 4 door Maverick".
So, would you like to see my collection of 25 plus Invictas with boxes and papers nos? Anyone? Anyone?

I just replied that I was hungry after reading some posts in the "Guilty Dining Pleasure" thread.

After this post, I've lost my appetite.

Actually, I have a friend who has the 25 invictas. He started collecting them years ago, but he even stated they are kinda cheapo watches after seeing my 71 speedmaster.

Personally I don't give a shit. There's a place for cheap watches, there's a market for them, and any it so cheap watches cost about the same to manufacture but have better marketing. I hate the gigantic tasteless monsters they're making now, and I haven't held or seen an invicta I liked, or that "felt" good. Neither have I held a titanium watch that felt good to me either.

Then there's the vintage posted up there a few posts before this.... I like it. I could have that in my box. Happily.

I guess what I'm saying is who gives a shit? Of you like it get it. If you want people's opinions don't get mad at them for giving you their opinion.

As for the watch in question if I get am invicta I would look for an invicta that looks unique in some way. Not for one that screams " fake rolex"

Of course there are borrowed and related design in most brands, but the good ones find a way to borrow and still make them somewhat unique. This one on the OP is completely bland to me.

I swear to god they're not mine, but I can get pictures if you want something to drool over. I've seen the big cardboard box that they're stored in.

While Invicta's modern watches are not of high quality, I have a nice vintage example from the sixties that has aged with a nice patina that I quite like.

Yes I've seen plenty of older Invictas that were honest watches. It's unfortunate that the current company has taken a very different direction.

MSRP was sold to them for a small fraction of that MSRP, and they have no clue that said MSRP was completely fictitious?
That's illegal in Australia. To say something is "on sale" or "x% off" it actually has to have been sold at that higher price in the past.

Invicta watch? I'm out, they sell them on Home Shopping Network. No way I'm wearing one of those.

You would be a fool not to buy it at such a price! You can buy ten, and sell nine with profit!

Dude, use the [sarcasm] [/sarcasm] font or members might take you seriously and lose serious cash.

I bought a cheap Invicta GMT for a quick international trip and promptly sold it as soon as I returned home. Did it keep time and serve it's function? Yes. Did it have quality fit and finish? No. There were uneven gaps and edges all over the watch. It served it's purpose for me on a two week trip, but I wouldn't want it or any of their other models long term.

So @Jhh834 - how do you like your new avatar & message? The above post was my inspiration.

I ain't the guy anyone needs to be taking advice from.
I put a new battery and strap on an Indiglo because my wife bought it from a factory outlet sale (located across town from us) for $15 at a time when we really didn't have $15 to spare because I was in school and we had a young kid and she was working.
I'm spending $140 to fix an old Timex I wore in high school and college.
Spent $50 on 65 year old Elgin just because I like it and wear it at least once a week.
Spent just over $500 (counting service) on an old Seamaster because I like it.

We aren't in a spot where we have much spare cash at the end of pay period courtesy of my wife's health problems but still manage to piddle around doing this stuff and will probably make two more purchases fairly soon either one vintage and one new or two new.

If I hadn't bought an Invicta off Amazon my itch for watches probably fades and I'm not here boring you. It's quartz and I wear it about once a week. Keeps time well, doesn't look glaringly hideous. Not defending Invicta, they make low cost watches with the level of workmanship and quality of parts consistent with that price.

I see watches posted here that I'd love to own and I see watches posted where I wonder what terrible thing happened to you to like that watch. Taste is not uniform. I'm not likely to purchase another Invicta but its also part of my journey.

As for the idea one shouldn't buy something advertised to cost X but actually costs X-Y to buy how do you get around not owning a car?

My Dad kept buying dirt cheap Invictas and they kept breaking. I'd go for Seiko.
