All Original 2205-0649-Worth servicing?

I purchased this watch in 1975 as a gift for my wife. She wore it until the mid nineties and it’s been sitting since then.

i recently found it and put it on my Weishi 1900. The 1900 was set for a lift angle of 48 degrees and reported the correct 28800 vbh.
The six position (dial up, dial down and 3,6,9,&12 up) averages are as follows
Rate: -282 s/d
Amplitude: 193
Beat error: .2

Question is whether these watches are worth the price of a full service (currently just under $500 without any unforeseen parts replacement). Or should I just retire it as is.
It does have sentimental value but I’m not sure that value decreases or increases depending on whether the watch is in running condition.

With you for fifty years! Excellent. I would have it serviced for sure.

What a beauty!

Thanks. She wore it for 20+ straight. I’m leaning towards getting it serviced even though she’s more into fitness trackers now and hasn’t worn a proper watch since 2010. It truly is a remarkable little watch.

Theres a few of them listed on ebay for ~$250-$500. So I'd say from a financial perspective, a service isn't worth it. AND you can get something similar and new from Seiko for about $500 as well.

That said, if this is one she would like to wear/use again, I would say its worth the $500 to have it serviced, just to wear it like she used to. But THAT is a particularly personal decision.

I always think old Seiko's are worth servicing, especially one with a personal history to you! 😁
