Sorry this happened was born in Oakland would not live there it has changed to much. You mite check out NAWCC chapter 5 mart the thief mite of sold them to another watch collectors who don’t know there stolen and that collector mite try selling them at the mart. They have it in San Leandro every other month. Just a long shot. Hope you get your stuff back. For apartments a small safe can fit underneath the sink cabinet in the bathroom or in the kitchen cabinet bolted down no one sees it so no one knows your business I did that before I bought a house.

Thanks everyone for the support, help, and suggestions. I immediately reached out to dealers and prominent collectors in the Bay Area, and I'm waiting for the police to issue the official report so I can upload it to the online registries and databases, and send to the auction houses.

Is there any security cameras in your building? Anything?

There may be, they mentioned that they would look, but they're currently in the process of upgrading security so the thief/ves may have taken the opportunity to do this while they had the best chance

Kinda make you think about "sacrificial" lower value watches. I'm sure there's no real logic in it.

I'm also reminded that whilst I tend to have photos of all my watches I really do need to create a database with all salient details.

Adam, absolutely terrible news and i hope you'll get a better response from the police in your area than I'd be likely to get in my area. Property crime, limited traceability, no firearms involved: nope I really wouldn't expect more than an incident number.
Heck, I hope you have much better success than that.

Really saddens me to read post such as this. Your collection is the envy of most watch enthusiasts.

I have my eyes open on the East coast for you.

    Good luck.

Is there a database somewhere of stolen watches? for example, If I am buying a speedy Tuesday, it would be great if there was one website where I could enter the serial of the watch I'm looking at so it can cross-reference against stolen items. If not then maybe that would be something to look into. It is difficult for a buyer to search a history of stolen items throughout the web. But if all victims had one place to list a serial, model, reference etc then it may really help us all.
