I'm about to purchase my first Cordovan Leather watch strap. How do these hold up after time? Please share pictures of your 4-5 years old Cordovan straps. This is a picture of the new one I am purchasing.
I don’t have the same brand, nor style of leather strap, but, here is my BandRBands cordovan NATO leather strap after almost 2 years of on and off wear. The strap has darkened and thinned in a few spots, the watch is a bit older.
https://omegaforums.net/threads/incoming-black-crosshair-waffle-2757.117469/#post-1563155 I posted this a few weeks ago. And I have watches from the 30's and 40's with cordovan leather straps that are extremely supple and hardly show wear other than a luxurious glow. Read through that link. It will not wear out, but get a richer, deep color.
Michael Knapp makes great gear. I haven’t purchased myself, but watching his YouTube videos (https://www.youtube.com/c/StrapaWatch), the dude is talented and really cares
People collect old shell cordovan dress shoes and boots as they really do not show their wear like calf or cowskin. A quick polish and they look great. I have only noticed a color change on my cordovan straps (some are a few years old) but nothing that would prevent wearing. I personally like the unlined shell straps as the softness and texture follows on the underside as well.
My Speedmaster on a RoverHaven two layer shell cordovan strap, taken in 2016...the strap was already a couple of years old by then, so it started out lighter than you see here: Now much darker:
Strap has arrived and installed on my SM 300 MC. Very pleased with the fit, finish and overall quality of the strap.
