A question for leather watch strap makers

Dear OF,

I hope you're all well!

I have found a watch strap amongst my haul that I want to wear with my Globemaster. But the spring bar holes are around 3mm from the lug end of the strap and I have measured and they need to be around 2mm. So I was wondering if I could make a new hole at around 2mm but do not know the correct tool I need to do this.

I did wonder if a pin pusher tool would do the trick but after a lot of googling and asking many different ways I just get results for either changing straps with Spring bars or making new holes in leather straps.

So I thought I would admit defeat and ask the forum as I am sure a kind watch strap maker will know the answer 馃榾.

Best wishes,
Dave

Hi @DaveK

Thanks for the reply. New spring bars won't work unfortunately, the holes are just past the lugs.

It might be the strap isn't going to work it just looks like it could be a perfect fit it the spring bar holes were closer to the case.

I have attached some photos. Apologies if not the best.

Not going to work.

And If you did, it would be too iffy for me. (Especially on a Globemaster)

This man speaks the truth.

Get a strap that's correct for the watch, not a bodge job that'll fail the first time you go to a room with a tiled floor.

Thanks all, this is exactly why I posted this question. Quite right in the advice, I'd be devastated to cause any damage to my GM so a proper strap it will be 馃榾 thanks all & keep well!
