After what's done is done; Do you think this #6 endlink is original?

I'm trying to quit hunting outside my scope yet when something like this comes along, it's really hard 馃榾

I had a modest 375 AUD bid for this one, saw it before I went to sleep, woke up early, bracelet parts alone are that much I think and if the #6 endlink was original it would be a nice $1000 on top, winning bid was 473 AUD - the seller isn't clueless, yet the #7 endlink accompanying the #6 makes you think, he also had a 18mm watch listed that this bracelet would go on, so my guess was even if the #6 was original, it could have been filed down to 18mm

As a self plug, I'm also looking for feedback for my tool, it finds auctions on eBay wherever it is, you can message me if you'd like to test and use it

The #6 end links are with 19mm lug widths, so even if the #6 end links were original, if they are machined to 18mm, they would be worthless.

Yes, and the OP also mentioned that, so I'm not sure what he is asking. 馃槙 I looked at the auction and the seller states the issues pretty clearly. It's useful for parts.

As for the app, my eBay results already show international sellers. If I'm missing listings that won't sell to the US, I don't really care that much. Ebay is increasingly useless anyway. It's somewhat helpful for price research, but when they stopped making Best Offer sales prices available, it became a lot less useful.

Thanks for the feedback

But you never know, I once discovered a rare C-Case bracelet reported as around 18mm, asked the seller whether they are 19mm, he confirmed and shortly after pulled the listing after realising the value - eBay auctions are still the cheapest way of buying certain watches, but I pity sellers and pity myself while selling, as effective fees are so so high sub $1K, which is where the fun is at

In this case, I've now checked the dimensions from the images and probably the left side is filed, the #6 endlink is longer than #7 but not enough to make it 19mm

Filed #6 endlinks are still worth around $150 though, I listed one on eBay and it was sold pretty fast, if this endlink is original and it was filed evenly I suspect it would be worth more, but I suspect it's only filed on one side

You're good if you can measure sub-mm dimensions from images, but sometimes it's worth taking a chance. I have no problem with that and I take chances on poor photos all the time using experience and common sense. In this case, the listing indicates that the end-links are ~18mm and their presence on the same bracelet suggests that's probably the case. So my gut feeling is that the modified #6 end-link would not be particularly desirable. Of course, one can contact the seller to ask for a more accurate measurement.

I generally turn the image to get a horizontal measurement and compare it to something of known size, for example the lug to lug distance in pixels give you a cm/pixels value - for this auction I neglected to do this beforehand and in hindsight I'm glad I didn't win

Of course there is always laser welding to add 1mm.

Yup, that's how it's done, but as you probably know, there are various artifacts that limit the accuracy of this approach.
