First, I have to thank my wife for my new watch. On June 25th we will be celebrating 10 years of marriage and because of it she was open to getting me a new watch. My last new watch purchase was a 2200.50 in 2009(?) which I ended up having to let go in 2012 for more pressing needs at the time. I sometimes regret selling it, but not as much as I would if I had chose to sell my 2254.

Moving on. Since the sale of the 2200.50 I have not found myself in a position to buy a new watch. My only new watch-related acquisitions have been in the form of straps; 2 OMEGA NATO's and 3 regimentals(Goldfinger kind). It was really tough on me because, like all of you, the only cure for our disease is a new watch. Alas, just when I was about to give up hope, my 10th anniversary shows up. So, I thought "what better time for me to get a new watch than on this special occasion?" Immediately I got to work and formed a list of reasons why I should get the watch I was asking for. The list will seem silly to all here, so I will not bother you with it. But the main thing is it worked!

So now, I am pleased to introduce to you my new watch:

This watch comes with extra spring bars and a changing tool. The previous owner tossed in two additional straps, one being an ISOfrane.

My "Most Trusted Friend" now finally has a diving buddy.

Time for my 2254 to relax for a while. Perhaps a few weeks at the spa is just what it needs...

The office saltwater fish tank is the closest my SCUBA 500 will get to the ocean for the next little while. Nice introduction to New England, huh? :p

It is not the OMEGA I want, but this is definitely a watch that has been in my sights. And I am super excited about it!

Have you had any new vintage watches in the last four years?

Nothing. I was looking at some vintage divers over the last several weeks, but there was nothing that I found appealing and all that I did would require an overhaul. Also, it had to be waterproof because I wear my watches 24 hours a day. I first learned about Crepas on WuS Dive Watch Forum and the members there testified to the quality. When I found this one for sale I registered on WuS just to get it.

Nicely played James! Love the chunky C-case. Looks almost retro like a 70's diver.

Wait a sec..... don't you mean REregistered under a new screen name? :D

Thanks Dennis. Me too. This one is a tribute to the Scuba Pro from the 70's.

I knew of Crepas but not this model. Nice every day watch in the cool Scubapro 500 style. A few of us on OF have Scubapro 500s and I think we would have a hard time parting with them as they're very wearable. Nice pick up!

The seller I bought mine from had one too. He told me how much he appreciated his Scubapro so he was willing to part with the CREPAS.

Mechanical divers are never a bad idea  Ye Olde ETA 2824-2 banging away inside, and a very useful Pelican hard case to boot!

For a second I thought that bleached coral was an adventure pic from the Great Barrier Reef, which is in a bad state according to sources. Anyways, some pics of it on those cool regimental NATOs forthcoming?

Looks great! Congrats on the pickup. The isofrane complements it really nicely.

Yes, pics will come. I am ordering the CREPAS mesh bracelet, an orange ISOfrane, and the OMEGA NATO that is black with orange borders.

Great Barrier Reef 85% bleaching state is all a crock of shite and political hogwash. It is only one section that is the issue and its natural for sections to change over time. It is crazy they are allowing ports to be built at certain sections but most of the reef in the north is as healthy as ever.

( fishing mate is a pro diver for gas industry and runs dive boat there during summer )

Coincidence you stating that about the GBR. I was just reading a short story about this bleaching of the GBR in the July issue of SCUBA Diving magazine. It reports 50% of the 130K+ square miles are "suffering". I assume the suffering means bleached.

The "S" on your Scubapro watch is the same on a diving jacket by a company called Scubapro. Are these one and the same?
