Yeah I check chrono but I feel like all their prices are always about 10-15% above true market value
Ebay "sold items" will show you what people are actually paying for watches, as asking price doesn't correlate to real world sales, especially during an economic downturn.

Wait. Did omega have radium dials on seamaster models?

Yes. The Seamaster was introduced in 1948. Omega phased out radium around 1962.

If you got it for $500 I think that's pretty great! How do you feel about it? Let's see a wrist shot too!

Yessir $500! I think it’s a bit small. It’s 33mm and I wonder how a 36mm will fit. But also every watch wears different based on numerous factors. Some say the chubby seamster wears smaller and some say it wears bigger. I’m gonna have to purchase one of those in the future and see for myself.
But here’s a wrist shot. Still trying to find a leather strap. It’s on a throwaway black leather strap in the pic.

From this shot I think it looks perfect on you! Like you said all pieces wear differently and I think the smooth bezel and wide dial make this wear just right. After a few days you will know for sure if it's the one for you.

Thank you! I’m contemplating between a green, blue or dark brown leather strap. I think it can play well off the radium lume on the dial. What do you think?

Ref 14701-1SC measures to 33.5ishmm I don’t have the digital one but it’s somewhere between 33 and 34mm.

I'm tossing my hat in on the blue one. Seems a nice summer color and blues bring our a cool, bright tone in silver watches. (Try that blue on a gold watch sometime for a real thrill, great contrast.)
Brown is classic, but seems you prefer a bit of pop. The green one I just can't get past the off-center buckle prong! Really tho I would be worried it would make the lume look too dirty and a focal point.
Too bad we can't get out to shops, best thing is to have a few you can lay right up against the case.

It looks to me to be a 166.010 case.

It's not. I just bought one, it has curved lugs. The 14700 and 14701 have straight lugs. I owned a 14700 until I was stupid enough to sell it... black dial and bracelet. You know the drill.

thats where I was headed. And yes when I am able go afford a 1803 president that strap is popping right onto it!! I think blue is the choice as well. I’ll have a brown on my Hamilton Khaki Mechanical. That should suit it well. Thanks for backing up what I thought in the first place!

Great minds buddy! If you really want to extend the life of a strap put it on a deployant buckle. No daily bending back and forth, I've had straps last almost 3-years this way. Usually one of the keepers fails first. May want to buy deployant-specific straps to keep the clasp positioned properly if you go this route eventually.

I’ve been following these recently and bought one but the price most of those I’ve seen advertised put the price you’ve been quoted in the bargain category
I have one from 1962 that has a caseback dual marked 14701 and 166.010. I seem to recall that the same caseback was used for 2 references: 166.010 for non-chronometer and 14701 fore cases housing a chronometer movement. I am not sure if that is the case but I consider mine to be a 166.0l0.

I see the difference now- there is also a bevel on your lugs. Mine is definitely a 166.010.

Here's an example of what you were thinking of:

The previous reference for 166.010 is 14763.

the colours are nice, I don’t think that the grain/texture works though
