Hi Everyone,

Omega Speedmaster Professional (vintage with Hesalite crystal and Tritium dial. No surprise there!) has long been one of my grail watches. Being in New Zealand, it's almost impossible to source one. Most people don't even know we exist 馃榾. Anyways, finally, I came across a 1995 Speedmaster in Australia. The asking price is AUD 5100 (approx USD 3900) incl shipping and insurance to NZ. I feel the price is reasonable. However, I would like to hear from you, with your extensive knowledge and experience, on what you think about the condition and the price.
Please see the attached pics.

Question: which reference is this? If it's a 1995 Speedy, I would think that it would be a 3590.50, but the bracelet looks wrong for that reference. A 3590.50 would normally have a 1479 bracelet with 812 end links. The 1479 is fully brushed and does not have the polished links flanking the center link on this watch. Also, the clasp on the 1479 would have the Omega symbol inside a square and the text would read Speedmaster, not Speedmaster Professional. In any event, yours is a nice watch and the price sounds reasonable to me for a mid-90's Speedy. This is what a 3590.50 should look like:

Thanks very much for the details, gbesq. This is 3590.50. And you are right. I don't think the one I posted is a 1995 model. Especially with serial no 4836xxx, it would be a 97 or 98 model with an 1861 movement. Also, as you said, the 95 models should have a 1479 bracelet and this is 1499.

I am kind of confused now 馃榾. Could anyone clarify the following points?
1. Post-1997 models have Super-LumiNova hands right? The one I posted is Tritium. So, is it pre 97? But the serial number points to a later date.
2. The bracelet is 1499, which I believe was introduced in 96?

Could be a transitional model. That would explain the tritium dial but with a later 1861 movement, bracelet and corresponding serial number.

Hi from a fellow Kiwi. And, yes - very difficult to find locally. That said, there was a 1996 transitional with 861 movement, 1479 bracelet with 812 ELs on TradeMe a month or so back - went for NZD7,250 from memory.

I am no Speedy aficionado (altho have a couple) - the dial, hands and lume are really nice but the lugs look like they might have been polished? Not a major but unpolished always preferred... anyway, good luck!

Hey Kiwibloke,
Thanks very much. Are you the same from TKNZ? 馃榾 If so, you might know me as Kronos.
Yes, there was on TM. Initially, it was NZD 6500, and then the seller suddenly hiked the price to 7250. Anyways, I bought the one above from Australia. Very happy so far 馃榾

I have a 1997 tritium dial which is exactly that.

Has it been serviced that comes with a guarantee? If yes the price seems fair to me.
